Ok,... a 3" 12ga loaded with 2 oz. of 6's is perfect for turkeys. A 22 LR loaded with 40 gr Winchester Power Points is perfect for tree squirrels. A .223 loaded with 50gr Btips is perfect for called coyotes. A 257 Wby is perfect for open country deer and a 7mm-08 for broken country.... A .338 Win for elk and a .375 for bears....etc., etc.

The above mentions are of my own opinion and I do not care to debate them...........However I have been meaning to build a .350 Rem Mag for several years now, and with all the parts (read high quality) spread out in the floor below me, I'd like to hear from the peanut gallery. What exactly in the world is the .350 Rem Mag perfect for..............or even good for? I need convincing!!

My .35 Whelen (the taller and skinnier twin of the .350 Mag) is my perfect moose gun. It will also be perfect for elk and bears. I load mine with 225gr TSX at 2700fps.

Given a 350 RM in a 22+ inch barrel, its good for the same things that the 35 Whelen is good for but the 350 RM is in a short action.

you wont need much else... that is exactly what it is good for.... unless your hammering chit out past a 1/4 mile it will drop stuff right there.... you can make em' light, they are 35 cal (perfect) and you can shoot pistol bullets in them to turn coyotes into paste

When they first came out in the 1960's I was 14. I thought that they might be good for black timber elk, wild hogs in heavy cover, bear protection for USFS crews,
a great african camp gun for lion protection, saturday fun shooting with cast bullet loads, and a whole lot of other general hunting duty.

The original Remington 600 was probably a little too small, especially the 18.5 inch barrel. A similar sized rifle with a 20 to 22' barrel and 1.5-5X scope could do a LOT of good things.

Jeff Cooper had a .350 Rem Mag heavy scout made up on a Sako or Mauser action (I am not remembering which just now). He was after the short action of course to keep rifle length down. John Gannaway made some ammo for him using the 250 Swift A-Frame loaded out as allowed by the rifle's magazine, and Jeff called it his ".360 Magnum". He did take game with it, including an African lion.

dont know what they are perfect for, but I know several whitetails that had a difficult time on the receiving end

bearstalker, NICE gun, had many guns done by Pac-Nor, all shot very well.

What taper/muzzle OD?

Parts and pieces will easily work for a .350 WSM is the problem....I'm currently waffling!!

Maybe running a trapline where you might encounter moose for the meat pole or grizzlies?

I'm pretty certain you can neck the cases down to make 6.5 Remington Magnum cases. That's about all I can come up with in the worth department.

Built short & light it would make a perfect elk rifle for in the timber.

Let's see - Whitetail Deer, Black Bear, Elk, Mule Deer, Moose, have all fallen to my .350.
I wouldn't consider it for Sheep, Woodchucks, Rabbits or squirels but that's about all I'd leave off the list.

A stepping stone till you get a 35 Whelen!!
