JGS or Pacific Gauge and Tool. Which one would you buy?

I'm going to have one made for an upcoming project, and could use a little input. Is there another brand you would suggest, or have used and like?

I'm new to the custom reamer game, and welcome any info or help/advice you guys can give me.

Kiff is making a reamer for me right now ... he's the man.

I have two Manson reamers ... great to deal with. Getting my first PTG reamer ... friends have dealt with them and reckon they are also great to deal with.

If building a wildcat, let the reamer maker know what you want and let them do the fine work. They tend to know what will and wont work.

I go with PT&G no reason to try others.

Dave Manson's reamers are very good. I'd go to Manson as his father is a friend of mine. They're in Michigan.

Both are extremely good at their business and easy to work with.
Dave Manson did my 338x57 MAI.
Dave Kiff did my 6.5 BR.

I see there are 3 types, removable pilot, solid pilot, and pull through. What is the best way to go?

My smith prefers floating pilot. He grumbles when I bring him a solid. Both have made super chambers. IIRC a pull through attached to a set up like a cleaning rod pull through the barrel and turned from the muzzle end. Ask your smith which one he prefers.

Dave Kiff has been super and has called me back on his dime everytime with in a few minutes. His products are high end no BS with him. I got a 17AH reamer from him. The metal had a flaw in it. A fin cracked while cutting my chamber. No ones fault. He replaced it for free with in days no questions. He and my smith got their heads together and finshed my chamber minus a flute. Nothing but good things to say about PTG

I borrowed a Manson reamer from a friend. He ordered it with a throat like a porn star. I sent it back had it reground. Mr Mason was also top notch. Had the reamer back in about 10days.

I will use either.

I prefer the floating pilot reamer but all will cut a good chamber if they are sharp and the barrel is indicated in the lathe right. I don't think you could tell the difference between Manson, Clymer or PTG . Use which ever one you can get the best deal on.

I've used both floating and solid.. Most are from Mansons but several are Clymers..

All good.. I thought I had an issue with a new one from Clymer.. Sent it back. Todd gave it a full inspection and did a little extra lapping on the major.. It came back in 3 days and cut like a hot knife in melted butter...

Can't go wrong with PTG, Manson, Clymer et al...

I know Dave doesn't charge extra for customs. Not sure about everyone else.
