i had a great shootn load with RL 19 but 55* temp change losses about 175 ftps and causes poor groups varget shoots great but a little slow a 140 gn accubond at 2760 the RL19 was about 2975 on a warm day . just wondering if anyone had developed a load that seems to be really good with the 140 gn accubond
My 7-08AI wears a 22" 11 twist Shilen. With 50.0gr of IMR 4831, IMR 4350, or H380 it shoots 1/2" groups at 2977fps +/-. H414 chronographs at 3075fps, but accuracy is much better just under 3000fps with the previously mentioned powders.
I ran 120 TSXs and they hammered everything in their path. Pushed them 3100+ with '19. I'm all about dropping the bullet weight and picking up speed.
Wow SST, that's some pretty good velocity out of a 22" tube.
I don't know if the 11 twist barrel has anything to do with it, or if it just happens to be a fast barrel. I've used these loads for years.
You can also PM WGM he's running a 7mm-08AI
Varget got me 2900-2960 in std. 7/08 but IMR 4064 was my fav powder for squeezing the most accuracy and velocity, seemed to edge out Varget for groups, very similar fps.
H380 in mine. Right now it's my fav.

Seen varget get 140s runnin round 3100 from a couple AIs wearing 26" tubes. But I know most folks here arent into long barreled s/a rifles. least not fer totin around in the woods
thank for all the info . i am getting h 414 to push 140 accubonds to 2900 from a 21in and groups are consistantly under 3/4 in for five shots .
