Where is the cheapest place to buy Howa actions for custom builds? I looking for a long action.
thanks
I believe they only sell barreled actions through Legacy Sports.
That be the importer, there are distributors.
What bolt face are you looking for?

You are correct. I used to see the barreled actions for sale through Jerry's Sport Center, but they are a distributor I believe (FFL only).
I am looking standard long action. 30-06 bolt face. I am looking to build a 6.5 X 284
I would buy a used one in good condition if someone has one.
I had all mine ordered from Ron Shirk's but it's been a few years and I don't know if they still carry them or not.

Thanks Steelhead i'll check him out
Scott,
I tried them a year ago on your recommendation and I was told they don't carry barreled actions anymore via phone call.
They might now?
Last time I had something ordered from them was probably 2007
Actually, I told them that you had recommended them and they immediately hung up on me...
They'd have done more to you if it had been McMillan....
I'm thinking big box store (aka. Wal-mart) Weatherby Vanguard and sell the extras would have to be about the cheapest. Of course that is assuming they still carry them.
Jerry's Sports Center distributes barreled actions. But they are almost expensive as the full rifle.
The Academy outlets in my area sell the Howa youth
combo in 243 and 708. Havent checked the prices on them,
but Im sure they arent very expensive. Every now and
then Walmart sells Vanguards for buy one regular price,
buy a second rifle for half price.
If anyone finds new Howa's for cheaper than the link I posted, please let me know..
I would imagine you'll not do better than that...
I bought a barreled action in .204 for a donor about 14 months ago for 323$ and I looked all over...
