Who has built a custom .35 Whelen? Can you post some pictures with details? Looking for ideas, thanks.

Trued Rem 700
22" Bevan King 1:14 barrel
Gretan firing pin
Boyds laminate stock
Leupold VX-II 2-7x33 in Talley lows
This is what you want.

-Pre 64 M70 action with factory bottom metal
-24" #3 Pacnor SS barrel, 1:12 twist (brand is up to you)
-D'Arcy Echols Legend stock, Edge fill (mine has the two SS recoil cross pins)
-Factory trigger (Rifle Basix makes a great modern trigger)
-Leupold VX3 1.75-6x32mm
-Leupold QR rings and low bases (low bases will barely clear the objective housing slightly wearing on both the scope and bolt handle necessitating Leupold Alumina scope cover. Butler Creeks and any other scope covers will NOT work)
-Pacmyer Decelerator pad
-Cerakote all metal in "Midnight Purple" (gives a dull blued finish)
-OD Green paint on stock
-Pillar and glass bedded
-SS swivel studs (also Cerakoted)
-8 lb 3.3 oz they way you see it.

Redneck, here on the 24HCF did the metal work and initial inletting.

Charley Santoni, CS Sports, did the stock and metal finish and bedding. http://riflestockpainting.com/

Mine is in 9.3x62mm but the 35 Whelen will fit like a well broken in glove.

I'm currently working on my parts collection phase for my 35 Whelen project.

I'll have to post some pictures of my parts so far.

Had a 35 Whelen AI built but have not got past bedding it yet.

Pre 64 action
Douglas 12 twist #3 finished at 24"
McMillan Supergrade stock, bling mag with Williams TG
Leupold 6X in Talley steel rings
Will be using Lapua 30-06 brass

Picked the Ackley for no other reason than the dies came my way.
Ruger #1S, 22 inch EAB heavy barrel, 1 in 12 twist. Custom rings on a rail base. Accupoint 3x9.

Picts availalle if you send me your email address. Forget posting here.

I have a Remington 700 BDL .35 Whelen. The barrel is floated and the action has had some minor work done. I really like the rifle, but it sure is NOT an evey day shooter !!

I can not bring myself to selling it just yet. I call it "the Donkey", it kicks just a bit too much for my tastes.
1935 Oberndorf Mauser action.
Shilen 12 twist barrel about a #4 contour (not Shilen's contour) 22 inches long.
Brno band ramp front sight
PMC 3 position safety, stock trigger
Weaver steel bases, Weaver rings, K-3 scope.
Straight grained walnut checkered 18 LPI
Pachmayr decelerator
Kind of a 1950's classic styled rifle. A bit beat up (been in use since 1986). Shoots very well with any 250. If I did it again, I would make the barrel just a bit lighter. This rifle is plain and reliable as a stone. GD
I built mine kinda like greydog's--more retro to invoke the era of the Whelen. Even put a receiver sight on it.

Here is my custom .35, Ruger 77 tang safety, wildcat composite stock and Pacnor #4 contour finished at 23". The #4 is a bit heavy but it holds nice. The scope is possibly the largest 1.5x6 I have ever seen but I love the clarity and its great for shooting pigs in bad light.

Im in the process of building a 35 Whelen from an 30-06 ADL I aquired a few years ago. Still in the parts collection phase.

Remington 700 action
Fluted bolt
Fluted Gre-tan firing pin
Talley rings
Remington bottom metal (older style - not pot metal)
Remington stock (new factory second)

I still need a VX-II 3x9 scope and a stainless barrel. I'm planning on spraying all metal (except the barrel) with a titanium color cerakote.

I should also mention I'm chambering and installing the barrel as a night course at a local college.
