Trying to ID a Rifle I have aquired. Dates i think to the 1950's or 60's. Its a 257 roberts made by the Pfeifer Rifle Company Roscoe California .Its built on a FN Belgium mauser action is marked FN 1949 and the receiver, bolt, and barrel are the same serial number. Stock was made by Monty Kennedy I think as he was employed by them full time and made all of their in house stocks. Its a gorgeous rifle with incredible metalwork and extremely light. Anyone know anything about it and maybe a ballpark value.

after laying in the gravel like that? i'll give you a nickel for it. grin

actually, im thinking its probably worth about $500. nice rifle.
Joe Pfeifer was a custom barrel maker/rifle builder in the 50's. His barrels and rifles were high quality. There's 2 pages of info on Pfeifer's work/shop in Roy Dunlap's book, "Gunsmithing". According to Dunlap, his stockmaker was D. J. Kennedy. And FWIW, Roscoe is now a neighborhood/suburb of Sun Valley.
Thanks that kind of confirms the little I know. I know Pfiefer sold barrel and action 'kits' but these were not marked like his customs are and this is.
