This week I got my two rifles I've been anxiously awaiting for. I struggled for a long time to get my LH Winchester M70 in .338 Magnum to shoot consistently even though I should have given up on that tube a long time ago, I decided to have our own Redneck put a tube on the rifle and have Eddie to the Cerakote.

The vital stats: 24" Pac Nor 1-10" twist SS barrel, Winchester Factory contour. Williams extractor, McMillan supergrade stock (standard fill). Williams SS bottom metal. Swarovski Z3 3x10x42mm Scope in Talley UL rings. Gun is 8 1/3# as pictured. I've not settled on a load just yet but a stout charge of RL 22 with a 180g Ballistic Tip is producing some real nice groups. I'm really happy with how it turned out and the work done by Redneck and Eddie.

My other is a project a LONG time in the makings. In 2007 I bought a Remington SPS youth rifle in .243 as a donor project. Well, I shot the donor and hunted with it for quite a few years. It is a Mike Rock 1-11.25" 5R barrel cut to 20" in .308 Win. Jewell trigger, Bat Guard, boltwork by Kampfeld.

The gun was built and cerakoted by Robert Gradous, and he did a great job. It was great being able to spend the day at his place and watching him put the rifle together. Assembled and scoped it weighs 7# 4oz and shoots amazingly well for a compact rifle.

Right now it's wearing a Leupold VX-3 in 2.5x8. I bought a 3x9x36mm Swarovsi Z3 scope that didn't want to track or print very nice groups so it's on the way back.

Here they are

Awesome rigs! Thats a two rifle battery that a fella could hunt most of the world with for many years. Congrats..
Oh dear. Those rule.
Both nice builds. I especially like the 308!

Agreed!
That .308 is really cool, very well thought out!

Thanks guys, that's certainly my plan. I'm really happy with how both of them turned out.
I like the shawty a lot.
Sweet rigs.

Yeah, those are nice!
Sweet Rigs, I am currently waiting for my own Redneck/Eddie 300 Win Mag.
Really nice rigs. You should have all your bases covered with these two.
I'd love to hear how the Gradous rifle shoots and what charge bullet combo you settle on.
Is that a McWoody on the .308?

The original scope I bought was a dud which made the first handful of groups "interesting". Once with replaced with a known good scope it immediately started shooting very tight. I've taken it to the range a total of three times now and the nice thing is that it shoots just about anything you feed it somewhere from the .4s to the upper .5s.

So far with relatively little load development - the 155 Berger is the tightest hovering most groups around .4". I had a couple of Berger groups that were also just an elongated hole but I'm not going to say that's what it does each time. Just behind the berger by a narrow margin is the the 168 Matchking. Even the 168 Ballistic tip with Varget is holding around .5" at 100 and I've fired two groups of 1.014" and 1.3" at 300y. That will most certainly hunt, especially out of a light(ish) compact rifle wearing a 2.5x8 scope.

Yes it is, if you'd like some better pictures of the stock I can post them. It turned out as one of the nicer looking McWoodies I've seen.

Nice, what did you go with on that one?
Mod. 70 Classic Action
McMillan Super Grade Standard Fill
Hawk Hill Barrel 1-11" 4 Groove
Talley Light Weight Lows
Leupold 3.5-10x40CDS
Graphite Black Cerakote by EddieF
Will paint the stock some sort of brown with black splatter when it gets home!

im betting on the McWoody going to St. Walberg, SASK this year....oughta fit easily in those box blinds....not sure a 308 will kill a big SK buck though...(grin)

Yeah - chances are you are right, that's probably going to go to St. Walberg. I have a couple of other candidates too wink
Well, the .308 continues to shoot quite well. smile

That was at 100y with a variable wind that was hitting approx 12 mph. The 155 VLDs with 45.5g of Varget seem to produce groups like that at this point with boring regularity. I'll take it smile
Wow, great shooting. It is hard to not like a 308..
