Will the barreled action from this rifle drop fit into a regular Model 7 stock? I don't have an extra stock to try or I would.
The best way to be sure would be to call the custom shop and ask them about the contour.
The 7 MS have 20" barrels and the 2 barrels that I have had were slightly larger, maybe longer, in contour at the shanks when compared to the factory 18.5" and 20" barrels. The difference wasn't much, easily addressed with a little sanding, but any difference, no matter how small, is a difference.

I have dropped 2 7 SS barreled actions, 223 and 260, into 7 MS laminated stocks without having to modify the stocks in any way for fit.

Good luck with that. Two different instances gave me reason to doubt Remington's accuracy with record keeping.

1. I called on a Remington 700 Classic in 30-06. They have no record of that serial number. I was reading it to them from the rifle itself.

2. On a custom shop rifle in 300 Win Mag they showed it as a left hand model. It is clearly a right hand model.

I can never get anyone at the Remington Custom Shop to answer the phone! Nor, has anyone ever had the courtesy to return the messages that I've left.
