I like your McFlame better Ingwe
Correct rhino.
Current favorite is this one, a Classic Edge painted in 3 color GAP Flectarn. Our own campfire member darrenk did the paint work on this one - thanks Darren!!

I do like the black/red combo. I'll take a pic of my son's black/red compact tonight. Also had a purple/orange that was a cool combo.

But it seems the uglier I try to make them, the more I like them. Here's a purple bastid:

And a orange/blue bastid:

[Linked Image]
Man 257, I love the look of that orange and blue with the od green on the metal. Never would've thought that would look good but it does.

Russell
Thank you. That's actually Coyote Brown metal. Here's a closer pic:

And the son's black/red. I think it's 60/40.

The top one, it's the Mountaineer (black with grey and dark earth specs). Really like the trim and slim design - it's definitely going to be seeing lots of time in the field.
I found a stock on the McMillan 'Specials' page that I could use. I called to inquire about it. Heather answered the phone and went to see if it was still in stock. when she got back to the phone, she called it 'hideous' and offered to paint it for free. I laughed and declined.

it is the bottom stock in these pics.

I'm gonna have to break open the wallet one of these days and order a McMillan.

Will you have room in the barn with the other thousand or so you've got already, Scott?

Sevens, is that mountaineer a long action and what is barrel length?

I've got a mountaineer ordered for a short action and #3 barrel. Hope it looks ok. Finishing at 22"

Yes, long action with a 24inch barrel.
My M1A carries my favorite McMillan.

Plain Jane .243 w/ SS Mullerworks 22" sporter tube (1:8) in an Edge Classic.
Skane, What's the weight on that rig minus the scope, any idea? Also, 1" pad or 1/2" pad? Looks like bdl bottom metal right? Sorry, thinking about a short action stock order and that is close to what I want.

Looks good. How do you like that Mullerworks tube? I've got a 6.5 1:8.....I'm just waiting on my stock to show up. I'll then have rifle built. I'm building a bit of concern for my chose in stock. I went with an edge Mountaineer. Do you think this will be ok with such a short forend? I'm building on a stiller 30 and want to finish tube at 22". 6.5 CM....any thoughts?
Nick,
I haven't spent a bunch of time with it yet but getting it on paper and a subsequent group with what was left of reloads from my last 243 has me a bit giddy. smile

Sounds like you've got a quite a nice rifle in the works! I guess only you can decide if the Mountaineer is for you. I'm a little long in the arm department so I know it's not for me. It could very well be perfection for you though.

IIRC, the Mountaineer is something like 7 or 8" of forearm - depending on inlet. (don't hold me to that)
You might want to take one of your existing stocks and put a piece of tape where the Mountaineer forearm would end and then decide.

Yeah, I'm short in the arms. I'm only 5'5" (no I'm not part of the lolly-pop gang ha) so it will likely fit great. I know on a long action, it has a 7" forearm. So I figure close to 9" +/-. It is a good 2-3 inches shorter than most other mcbros stocks that range from 30-31". I just don't want it to look funny regarding aesthetics. Should be fine.

Yes I'm real excited to get it underway. The stock is taking a good bit longer than I thought. Oh well, custom inlet for my barrel. It's all good!

Probably one of the three middleish ones... McFlame, the FUBAR'd McFlame that turned out a McSwirly, or the purple McSwirley.

40% purple, 40% light gray and 20% turquoise

It was awesome. Amazingly, it was dark enough that it blended in the bush, it didn't clash! grin
I really dig it. I am thinking about splitting up the gray and turquoise up 30-30
That is exactly what it is, Eddie Van Halen's 5150 guitar

Great pattern on the bobcat flame.
Thanks, it came out well.
Still like my old MR pattern 25-284. Bought the stock used on here. Dark blue, light gray, and black. My father keeps it in his safe and often lends it out to visiting hunters. They generally get a kick out of not knowing jack about McMillan swirls, Pac-Nor, or even the chambering..... wink

[Linked Image]
J, that's has always been one of my favorites as well!
These are my Rem600 sisters. Top is a 338Fed in a McSwirly and the bottom is a 7mm-08 in an EDGE. Both are the Mountain Rifle pattern.
