I've got a REM722 short action that's been opened up to .295 and have been thinking about a SAUM in 338. Already have the 6.5 and 7mm covered and have never been a fan of .270. Really thought of a 1in8 22-250 also but really am just thinking out loud at present. Anybody got a Remington threaded barrel in a bastard caliber? powdr
I looked into having one built. Ended up going the 338/06 route, but am still enticed by the idea of the 338 saum.
How about the .338 RCM?
338 SAUM sounds great. While you're at it build a 25 WSSM, a 30 Newton, a 333 OKH and a 275 H&H.

Just keep a 338 Win Mag around if you want to go hunting.
Huh, relatively new here Keith and with a smart mouth to boot. You won't last long. powdr
It was a joke. Sorri you have no sense of humor.
Don't worry about it Keith. He went on and on and on in multiple threads about a 1-8 22-250 which is common and well covered here for years and years. Now he's wanting to do a 338saum instead? What the hell goes through a persons mind to narrow it down to either a 22-250 or 338???.....lol.
Keith, you never think about building a rifle? powdr
a reinvented 338-06 in SAUM form ? meh, gonna be stuck with shyte bc bullets shoved deep in case, killing powder space in a short action regardless of the shorter than WSM length

better off with a 338 WSM in a long action, more bang for the buck with more powder to push the heavier higher bc bullets, throated right for no bullet shanking into powder space it looks wicked cool with the 250 gr Berger Hybrid, a better reinvented 338 Win Mag !

Sure but not about a complete orphan that duplicates rifles that are readily available and which will have some retail value when the thrill wears off.

None of these dreamy wildcats do anything that can't be duplicated off the shelf. The wildcats that did something new have already been done, 22-250, 25-06, 35 Whelen, 400 Whelen, the Weatherbys and many more.

Fine if you are called to build something new for your pleasure as long as you realize it's your's forever.

Now, I have to get back to opening up the fore end to free float my 280 AI.
