Going to pull the 22" factory barrel with screw filled sight holes, and replace it with a stainless 24", fluted, TI take off.
Old m8 6x42, is gonna go back to Leupold for an LRD reticle change, and the bolt will go off to Eddie for a fluting, and lightening cuts.
The whole thing will get ceracoat ed, graphite black, and go back into a nice walnut stock.

No use for it, but I want a project.
I intend to run either 168 gr ttsx's or 180gr partitions.
This all sound dumb ?

Screw the flutes.
Have a 22", don't like it.
Shoots awesome, just don't like it.

Beautiful stock. Sounds like a great project. I'd go 280 though. smile
Have a 280ai already
Sounds like a great way to get a gun refreshed without a lot of money.

The wood stock is very nice; I might be tempted to get some checkering on it.
If this is the subject action I would replace it with a better design.

No,it does not.
I don't think it's dumb at all; I kinda like having a project or two going.

All those mods sound good, but I'd add one thing....

That's a beautiful stock. I'd get it checkered!

PS- what you said ain't dumb but I guarantee that whatever Dumb Don said IS dumb...
Trying to remember the place in Mn, or WI, where my 280ai got checkered ????

The other side of the 06 stock is not as figured.
Ahlman's ?
Yep.
That's it.
A lady did the work.
Beautiful. I like the ebony grip cap. They do great work up there.

I like the smooth look on certain rifles (sporterized Mausers Springfields & Enfields) but for a truly finished custom rifle checkering is a must.

Love me some wrap-around action!
Jim62 did the stock.
Widows peak tip.

Looks great how's she shoot?

You gonna get stock checkered?
Just got it back yesterday.
Had to wait most of the week.
I dropped it off last Saturday, and it was ready Monday, but I have to work. Would be late in the evening if I went to get it.
I'm think about checkering it, as well as graphite black for the color.
I wanna see how it shoots before I go doing more.
Gorgeous stock; great project. I also vote for checkering.
Bob
Scope sent off to Leupold today !
That is a fine looking rifle.
Received a call from Leupold last week.
Lrd reticle is a no go in my old m8 6x.
Still had them swap out the heavy duplex, for a regular one.

I'm going to see how it shoots before I get the bolt fluted, and lightened, and stock checkered.
That turned out nice! great looking stock.
Nice looking rifle.
