Saturday was opening day in my County. I shot my gobbler at 7:20 AM with my 20 gauge smooth bore flintlock trade gun.

I called the birds in with a Lynch's box and a raspy double reed diaphragm call. I took the shot at 25 yards.

My gun is a straight cylinder bore, I loaded it with 80 grains of FF Goex and 1 1/4 ounces of #6 shot.

The bird had two beards, the main one is 9 1/8 inches and the second is 4 inches long.

This is the first season I have hunted with the flintlock. It won't be the last. grin

...nice shootin, Tex.

Now you need the period clothes to go with the period firearm.

All the new fangled toys are no substitute for an effective load, and good calling.

Way to go!
