Getting back in the groove for turkey season and was getting a feel for my 870 against my Encore set up. The encore won out for accuracy because of the sights. I need a better choke for my 870 but I'm happy with where the Encore is hitting.

gitem12, that a 3" or 3.5" pattern?

Either way it's impressive.

Mine are 3" by the way.

3.5 inch. Mossberg 835

Bone collector "smackdown". .675

People scheit talk mossbergs all they wan but the 835/935 series are the best, most consistant patterning guns i've seen

I won't talk down on a Mossberg 835 I've seen too many unreal patterns from them. I miss everything but the recoil from my old nonported 24" barreled 835 that I traded off awhile back.

I had a 935 but it kiced just as bad as this 835 and it was heavier

My solution was a Knoxx Spec ops adjustable stock from Blackhawk. REALLLLY tames an 835

My solution was trade it off and get a youth 870 20 gauge, talk about tame. LOL

That Mossberg puts out a killer pattern!

My 835 is a club at both ends and everywhere between. My new to me favorite is an old 870 that a really nice guy in NE sold me a few years ago.

Impressed with some of the posted patterns from that Winchester load.

Won't be any birds getting away from that pattern.

Brian,
That's a good pattern. Get a long beard into range and he is going home with you. BTW, I really like your "Loy's" pattern knife. That knife should make an excellent turkey blade!

Thanks buddy! Mine worked on a meat Jake last year. Hoping I can get s Longbeard coming in this year.

You wouldn't happen to know Tim Bullock would you? Tim is a North Carolina Game Warden who builds some of the best box calls I've heard. I have one of his mineral stained poplar boxes and it's my go to box call, pure turkey 100%!

I may need to get my name on your waiting list for a Loy's knife...
Would this ammo work in the old full choked 3" model 12's???
I had about decided when I have to use a shotgun, that was the one I would select..

Interesting. I just bought a box of 3" LB 5s to try out of my 835. I didn't see any 3.5" shells or I would have bought them.

Post up what you think when you pattern some.
