If any of you are looking for tungsten shot, I'm going to sell some #9s for $450/10lb or $225/5lb. Shipping and insurance will be $12 if you want 5lb or $15 if you want 10lb.

This is surface ground smooth, so it doesn't have a band.

Shoot me a pm if you're interested.

I like the way you think. Those bad boys would be perfect for the 28ga. that I really wish I had built right now!
That TSS #9 is some shore nuff good turkey medicine
What is the equivalent in lead as far as weight goes.
Sold. Thanks Guys.

Lead is 10.5g/cc and this is 19g/cc. It's the golf ball vs ping pong ball concept. The tungsten has a far greater penetration energy. IIRC one of the guys that has the shot ballistics program stated penetration of a Tungsten #9 was similar to lead #4. I've only tested it in phone books and turkeys. I compared HV hevi shot 7(1200fps), HV CP Lead 6(1300fps), and tss #9(1100fps) in phone books at 40 and the tss penetrates deeper. In turkeys, the tss #9 pellets that strike the body are often found on the far side of the bird under the skin at 40+yd. The pattern density far surpasses lead or hevi as well, so you can get ample CNS impacts at much farther ranges. The place it really shines is turning smaller gauges into solid LR killers. I only hunt with 20ga now and know several guys that hunt with 410 and 28 as well. TSS can turn the little 410 into a 40-50yd turkey killer.

I'll echo the same results. Even being an engineer I was very skeptical of the lethality of the #9 shot. My turkey brain just wouldn't override my engineering brain until I started breaking leg and wing bones at 40+ yards. I'm a 20ga only guy currently working on a 28ga gun. smile
Wow! I figured tss in 7s would be about the same as lead 5s but 9s being as effective as 4 lead! You could shoot a 12 ga 2 3/4" at 1 1/2 oz and not be punished at the pattern board. That is amazing!

They make it in 7's. I mean you are the one reloading it. Mark it as 7's or buy your overshot card with 7's on it if you are worried about them checking. I've NEVER seen a shotshell checked for shot size.
