Why is it, 90% of the time the rifle is cocked? There was so much mirror blue in Maine we almost needed sun glasses.

You did get the year right!

Not the right gun tho. This is a bit lower than that. 99G in 300, one of the few mirror blue 99's that was made in 1927-1928. Not all 99's in that range are mirror blue, only some. And you can find it on any model. This is a 99G in 300 Savage.

Is that your gun Rory?

No, this one was too rich for my pocketbook.

I have one just like that but in .303

I finally found one this year, but it's not as nice as the one I showed above.

Most that you run across from 1927/1928 are used heavily. Need to letter a few, see if the mirror blue ones all went to the same retailers.

I have a mirror F in 300.

But it’s better defined as a wet rat!

anyone know the formula?

I have a 1912 SRC that was restored and you can see your reflection in it crystal clear. They did a great job, but it’s not quite right?

Almost nobody can get that pre-WWI mirror blue right.

The mirror finish is not the bluing, it's the metal finish under the bluing.
