I was sorting through a bag of old 30-06 brass & found a handful of them with the SA CORP headstamp. Have not seen this before, I assume they are Savage mfg. ammo?

Yes, Savage did sell ammo with its own headstamp. I have a couple 300 cases marked Savage. I read the history of their ammo making some time back but I have forgot most of it. However, the discontinuation of Savage ammo seemed to have something to do with a legal or business battle that forced them out of the business. And I think it all predates WWII. I am sure there is somebody here who can fill you in much better than I and Savage's ammo making biz is an often overlooked part of the company's history.
