Didn't want to get the thread off track for the OP that was already started. His was 5 digits with a serial 10,831.

Mine is also a 250-3000. 4 digits and serial number of 2503. Any confirmation of year made based off of that?
That's going to be first year, 1920. Unless something weird happened.
Thank You. I suspected as much as a possibility, but good to know a concrete year.
They made a bunch the first year.. but then a massive depression hit the US economy. A lot sat in inventory, a bunch were shipped back from retailers who found they suddenly had a lot more inventory than buyers, etc. The Model 1920 was fairly expensive, could buy the Model 1899's for less in 1920.

So even though a lot were made in 1920.. a bunch of finished guns didn't sell (or were resold) in 1922 and 1923.

The Savage 1899 Model 250-3000 retailed for $60, the Model 1920 in 250-3000 retailed for $75.
