I have i 303
130-30
and know of 1 250-3000. what have you guys got.
add from 1921 to 1934.
Norm
If you're in Australia, they seem to all be in 22HP..
I have a 1924 in 303.
Norm, here are some ver ruff number for you look over...
From 1921 through 1934 there were around 110,000 1899/99's made. I have a few over 500 rifles in my data, Within that 500 I have the following:
22HP = 14 ea (6 are in Australia or Canada)
250 = 8 ea
30-30 = 9 ea
303 = 6 ea
300 = 5 ea.
I only have one in the last 3 years of data.
Not uncommon for the barrel to be a take down.
Sampling is a little squid from specifically hunting data on E's in past years..
That's only 42 E s in 13 years.. we need more guys to check their safe queens.
And i have 20 in that range.

Don't have one either.

I have 3.
Two 303, one 300.
only 1 in 22 hi power. Until it moved to NH, it lived in Australia.

Ah, I stand corrected.
At the time I had about 8 others on my hit list. I did ok.
22 Hi-P, 269,294, really rough. I got offered too much money and it went down the road.
250-3000, 330,135. Pretty nice, real accurate. I think I used it on an antelope when I was working on my Savage grand slam.
I had one in 30-30 but it went down the road.
I also had 1 in 30-30, but no more!
I had a 300. 1927 as I recall.
Gone now.
thanks guys ,, keep them coming.
Norm

thanks guys for the updates, Don are yours in Rick's data
Norm
Norm, Not sure if they all are or not,but they probably are now !!
What's the difference between a F and E?
My mistake, I meant the difference between a H (shown) and a E.
A late 1899 H is the forrunner of the E but the E was the first solid frame 250-3000 and probably the first solid frame 22HP.
somebody may correct me on that , there may have been a special order solid frame 22HP or 250 before that ,
Norm

how about your brother ???
Norm, Not sure what Dick has for “E”s if any,i’ll ask when i see him.
thanks guys for the updates, Don are yours in Rick's data
Norm
Yes, I had the four as part of my data.
That "solid frame G" was one that created many postings and disagreements.
The serial on this 30-30 H is 161xxx
Glad this thread got some new life, I am fascinated with 22 hp E's why so many are down here as opposed to the US & Canada.
Norm that rifle cost me $500.00 AUD about $350.00 USD it was one of the times when luck went my way I saw it on sale site within minutes of being listed being deaf I was buggered I couldn't call them, then as luck would have it my wife walked in the door I ran at her with the phone number already programed in
That's a really nice 30-30
Johno
My mistake, I meant the difference between a H (shown) and a E.
the H models were available in solid or take down i believe except the IMP 22HP

yes, correct.
Depends on the year.
In 1919-1920, the 1899H was on pricelists only as a takedown - no matter what it was chambered in.
From 1906 to 1909, only solid frame 1899H's were available.
I have S/N 27479x I think 1925. Takedown in .300.
Just picked it up a couple months ago. First 1899.
Probably late 1925, it'd be stamped "SAVAGE MODEL 1899" on the receiver - but it's actually a Model 99. They just didn't change the stamps for 6 years since the name change was mostly driven by marketing.

That would be an model F
Norm
Yes it is stamped 1899. I was told it was an F. Thanks for confirming!
actuallly a question is it a straight stock or a pistol grip.
Norm

Norm
It's a pistol grip.

Norm
It's a pistol grip.
then if the serial numbers match on the stocks and reciever it is a model G
Ill bring this back up and see if there is more info coming.
