I have a 300 Savage Model 99 with a Schnabel tip, steel buttplate serial#408632. It is in 85-90% condition on the bluing and 90% on the stock, it is quite clean. I think it was made around 1941? Can anyone tell me more about it? What is the collector's value. The rifling is like new, and it has marble sights. Thanks in advance. Wade
Do you have any pictures?
does it look anything like this...

Won't be an R if it's got a chnobel tip on it.

It's most likely an EG.
Got to be a G or an EG. No way to be able to access it's value without being able to see it. So many factors that contribute to value...especially collectors value.

Could be worth anywhere from 300-900, depending on model, condition, caliber etc.
I appreciate the input from all, it looks like the rifle you posted in this thread except the sights are of the marble variety and the rear sight does not fold down. It looks to be in similar condition troo as the one in the photo here. Thanks, Wade
I think I have an aftermarket sight...
