Was a real eye opener.
The 99's went way back in time and were priced approximately $700-$1,500.

I would pay $700 for a good looking 99 just based on its looks and intrinsic value as a firearm. In fact, I just did that. Worse comes to worst, I have only paid $700 and have a handsome speciman of one of the 20th century's great guns!

But I had no way to assess whether the pricier ones were a good deal or not.
what did you get?

Lets see some pics!
Did not get anthing today at Alentown.
Last week or so I bought a 99 in .243 in an online auction for $700. delivery to my FFL this week
Bushmaster 1313: Did you check out the 1899 B model in 30/30? I'm thinking of buying it from the dealer/collector. I have his phone number. I could not make up my mind at the show but now wishing I had made an offer. Did he ever put a price on the Model 99T? Thanks Riverpines
All 99 are great
In Houston yesterday, my brother scored a nice 99T 304XXX in .300, for $620. It had been reblued (probably cold) on the receiver, but otherwise was unaltered - no extra holes, stock uncut, no swivels, no tang crack either. I think he did pretty well. No we only have 4 .300's between us.

There were a couple of highly customized 99's, one a .303 the other a .30-30. Extensive engraving, and custom wood, all very well done, for $3K each. I might have bit on the .30-30 for a grand less, but it wasn't to be.
304,xxx is too early for a 99T. Hope you are just misremembering the SN?

I think the 99T was $1550 or maybe $1750 but I could be mistaken.
I asked him why so much and he said he only knew of three.

I did see a 30/30

For lack of knowledge (not to mention discretionary gun funds)I am not in a position to be buying 99's at high asking prices, even if they are good prices to those in the know.

Were his prices reasonable?
that question really can not be answered without seeing the gun... collectors are really anal about a lot of things that the average gun guy would not care much about... 99Ts had special sights and no sling studs to name a few

The forend s/n matches, as does the buttstock
Not a T, unless T stands for "Takedown." wink

Rod
That would be a G.
Nice gun though and at 620 not a bad deal either IMO, although the re-blue does hurt it's value as a collector.

Can't beat a G for hunters, they are sweet guns

Hmmm...learn something new everyday smile

So it's really a 99G?
G's are my favorite 99, This is what a "G" with condition can look like. This one still has loads of varnish on the lever protecting the case colors.

That's very nice! My brother was very pleased to score his - he's been wanting a takedown for a long time, and this one was the first he'd seen in decent condition, that wasn't much more expensive.
