Photo of my Savage 99 Collection - 01/22/12
In case there is a chance that any of you enjoy looking at pics of these, as much as I do seeing the 99 photo's here, I have posted mine.
The 1895 75th anniversary model on the left, which I shoot, will place 3-shot groups at 1" at 200 yards, when I am on my game. I have had one other .308 in a 99, and it too shot very well, and best with the 168 grn.
I have also noticed that the .250's don't shoot well at all with a boat-tail bullet. I am thinking the rifling is wrong for that projectile? Spitzers were ok in them though.
I don't know why, but I just love these things. My son and nephew make fun of me over it, but they are still in their mid-20's. This did not hit me until I was almost 30, and it gets worse every year.
All of these are from the factory, as they are. 3 were custom made for me in the 80's when Roland Lussier worked there.
Hope you enjoy them.
I am hoping they have babies.
