This rifle has been listed on AA more times in the last two years than I have fingers and toes. It is priced like the rest of that sellers merchandise - which is why his items keep getting relisted. Click on his items for sale and see for yourself.

I guess thats why he calls himself HYMIKE, must not be able to put the crack pipe down.

Hard to find but not worth no $1600.

A 500$ RIFLE.Retail.

:P, Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05
i might buy that for 1500.
Posted By: mad_dog Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05
Wow, bet ya that one goes over $2000.

I'd be bidding that one if it was in Canada.

$100 says I know who wins the 1895 (and it ain't Jed).

I like the checkering, but doesn't the wood look to good for the rest of the rifle or is it just me? Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05
watch the 95,its a hot one!!
Posted By: mad_dog Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05
Hell no Les. Except for the chip on the front of the forearm this is what you should be looking for!

I changed my mind, it's going well over $2000, maybe $2500.

Someone with a GB account wanna get me the serial number?
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05
Guess I am way off base. Is that stock checkering, why is it varnished or is that hig sheen tung oil? Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/22/05

Les,
we got a cub on the farm.3 of the original tires, and the original seat.Seems i remember it being a 46.What no Johnny Poppers?
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Dad has 5 FarmAll, I have worked on the engines of every one of them. Seems like every time I go to Michigan, I am cracking one open to repair for him. I love it. Cubs are great large garden, snowplowing and lawnmowing tractors. Easiest of the bunch to work on. My Dad's Tractors are all FarmAll, startign with an A, B, H, M and a Super M. Les
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Guess that is where I get my collecting bug, he buys a few not running well but with good bodys and I get to fix 'em. The only one he bought odd was a 65 Ford 9N. What more could I ask for. Les
Posted By: Rick99 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Based on the statement ""...and varnished plain walnut stock and fore-end." is the seller stating that the checkering was added?
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
That is why I asked about the finish, but I really like the checkering job on ths one. Beautiful wood on it, just that one chip in the forestock. Wonder if the numbers match. Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
(numbers match)yeah,i'll say they do.And the checkering looks right.
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Jed, no BS with you, that rifle must really be something. I see what you will be paying. If I might ask what was the reserve? Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
i was looking for the reserve.seems it was 2500.

I had to sleep on it.
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
WOW, thats really all I can say on this. I still haven't heard from the seller. Sent a few emails to him to ask questions on the rifle. guess I wasn't serious enough for him. I am sure you will get the answers to what the serial number is. Nice. Les
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
I emailed also.I'd like to drive out and look at it.I could pick up the Lewis box at the same time.
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Lewis Box, huh. Les
Posted By: Longbeardking Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
I have an 1899A T/D in 38-55, and I'd be VERY hard pressed to even CONSIDER $500.00. The one on top is the 38-55 topped with a Boone. Wood has been sanded, darn it, but the metal is as good or better than the one being offered. and all the numbers match. It isn't for sale

Posted By: mad_dog Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
I figured $2500, but I think your gonna have a fight on your hands, it's gonna go higher.

Especially from the 1895 collectors point of view.

Did anyone get any info? Either from JTC or the owner yet?
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
did you get me the ser # ?...No.I've not heard anything yet.I want to go out Friday and have a look.
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
He still hasn't emailed me yet, waiting diligently. Les
Posted By: Violator22 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Serial number is 808X on the 1895, for your records Joe. Les
Posted By: mad_dog Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05
Wow, that one was getting close to the cut-off.

Maybe a 1897? I know my two are 1896's.

I'll have to get a copy of the letter from who-ever wins it, I know it's gonna be one of two people.

I found a T/D 1899A in 25-35 yesterday but haven't gotten a price yet.
Posted By: Jed 1899 Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/23/05

Posted By: mad_dog Re: 38-55 on AA - 03/27/05
You probably have seen it, but not often.

He's kinda private so I don't really wanna open my mouth to much, keep your eyes on it, maybe he'll show, maybe he won't, he's reading everything Jed said about the refinish as well.
