Happened upon this site after researching Savage 99 rifles. This is my first post here and happy to get acquainted with folks who have knowledge of these fine rifles. I plan on buying my first 99 within the next 12 months. I tend to lean toward the .300. I would like to here your thoughts. Thanks

Tony

Yep 300 in a factory drilled 50's EG or my choice an F for a starter. Then it soon will be joined by others. Kinda like coat hangers in the closet they just multiply. GW eek

+1 for the 50's F. It will definitely wet your whistle for wanting more 99s.

I guess I'm the "odd man out" here, but for me a M99 in .250 Savage is THE classic combo and my personal favorite.

Thanks. I am finding that my area of the country is not an area swimming in 99's. I have been to 2 gunshows in the past year and have only seen 1 99. It was in 30-30 and in poor shape. How much should I pay for a 50's era F?

Depends on the area you live and most important the condition of the gun. As manufactured with no damage or alterations in my area $400. to $800., uless you find one NIB, then its anyones guess. Hey timbo762 if I could own two the 250 would be by second choice and it was. GW
