I have recently purchased my first Savage 99--I am sure it is a later production due to the condition of the rifle. It is identified on the left side of the barrel as a 99C, but I am trying to figure when it was produced, and if it is a 99CD. It has a serial number {F7943--} and has a smooth Monte Carlo stock. Any help in dating this rifle will be appreciated.
Looks like it is probably 1999 manufacture, definitely one of the last ones made. It would be a 99C, the 99CD was long out of production by then and they gave all the 99C's a monte carlo stock.

I had one in 300 Savage from that year, looks like this? 1999 99C..

PS: Welcome to the forum!
Thank you for your help and prompt reply. It definitely looks similar--Got it because it was in excellent condition and has a Trijicon 3X9X40 scope mounted and is in .308. Figured it should be a good shooter.
Savage web site says:

Savage Arms Inc. will provide service on all current firearms manufactured after November 1, 1995 (serial #F498821 and above), as this was the date Savage was acquired by its current management.

Be interesting to hear what they said if somebody called in with one of these late 99's for service. Say a rebarrel/rechamber to 7mm08. grin
