I'm looking at purchasing a 99R in 250. The rifle was made in 51 and is drilled and tapped and has swivel studs. Is this factory correct?

yes

Would have had eyes rather than studs in the 50's, but the holes in the wood are original. grin

It's a nice gun Mike but not $850 nice.

Sorry, just realised your not Mike, that's altacan not altaboy.

Still ain't $850 nice though, maybe in the U.S., if you check out his gun sights you can see he's been shooting for U.S. prices on them as well. $350 for a W1 Marbles tang sight???? Come on.

An old member that used to hang out around here, haven't seen him in years, your name was close to his, just had a brainfart.

That's the Mike I thought started the post Rory, thanks.

Lorne, on a 250 it's about $200 high unless it has a lot of condition. If it was in 243 or 358 I could see it being a steal at that price though. In fact if it was a 243 we wouldn't even be discussing the price right now cause it would be on it's way to me, hahahaha.

I was one of the first viewers - so if it was a 358 it would be on its way here smile

That's about what I thought $ wise. Condition is (to me) an OK shooter. I'd pay a little extra , cause I would like a 250/3000 AND I have an old friend (who is 76) that would like one - be a nice Christmas present.

Cheers
Lorne

I just need a 243 to round out the R's. Already stashed my 358, 303, 300 and 308. My 250 R is in my Gunshops safe waiting for the right trade so I ain't worried about it going anywhere. Got an EG in 243 that would head out the door as soon as I found the R 243.

It was actually raining here last night, was out in the loader plowing slush instead of snow.

MD, you are still missing the 30-30R! I have a 243R but I unfortunately, I won't be trading it to you.

Why not Drew?

Probably got something nice in the safe you'd like.

That 250R sold, I guess prices are starting to go mental here in the north now to.

So are you saying that Canada prices are getting are getting close to U.S. prices? God forbid! So sorry your prices are going up. grin Welcome to the world of inflation. grin Give you $250 for a tomato stake 250-3000 EG 99.

Saw a nice EG in 250 sell for $600 up here not 2 months ago.

No, I don't think the prices are gonna rise like the U.S. prices are, I just think someone uneducated that just HAD to have an R in 250 and had a wad burning a hole in their pocket needed that gun. Theres one in every country. If it was a good price it would have sold in the first day. When a nice gun hits CGN and it's priced fairly they don't usually last more than 2 hours. Either that or someone talked the seller down.

Chances of ever finding one of them are slim to none. They weren't even catalogued so I don't count it as missing one. I do know where theres a nice T in 30-30 if I ever got the itch.

Joe

If that is the one I'm thinking of it had some strange looking d&t holes in it. He started that one asking $700 or 750 . Only when his ask went to 600 that it moved.

True on correct pricing - they move quick

Its all good

If you want a good laugh take a look at how the different cabelas locations price thier savage 99's. Some of the stores think a lot of their guns, with prices of 800-1000$ for a run of the mill EG in .300 savage.

I can go over to gun broker and find the same gun in much better condition for $500-600.
