I recently bought a sav. m 99 and am not sure of the model. ser. # is 3271xx in .303 sav. with a 24 inch barrel.it is a solid frame rifle with a takedown barrel. receiver does not have the indexing slot but there is an arrow with the word " off " on the barrel. if you take the fore-stock off , there is an "A" on the end of the receiver. any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Straight grip or pistol?
Crescent buttplate or shotgun?
straight grip with shotgun buttplate
That is most likely a pre war post 1927 E. But with that serial number in 303 should have a 22" barrel. Only the 300 was made with a 24" barrel in those days.
Something don't smell right
Pics would be very helpful...
Sounds like a 99A to me. Takedown barrels on solid frame receivers of that era have seen enough to believe the factory was putting them out that way.
I don't doubt the takedown barrel on a solid frame, but an A with a shotgun buttplate?
Maybe...
Never say never...
