So sad that it was abused.

Must be a 6.

The 800 series rifles were all in the 83X,XXX
Posted By: gnoahhh Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
Are you sure it's the same gun? Anyway, the second one for $300 strikes me as a good deal for a tomato stake. What else can you spend $300 on that would give as much enjoyment? Heck, I've spent more than that on nights out on the town.
Posted By: JeffG Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
I'm not ashamed to say that was a good enough deal for me to jump on.

I might change my shipping damaged 358R into an EG now!
Posted By: 303savage Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
it sold....I was just trying to pass on what I thought was a pretty good deal.

Dang, a minute too late! Who got it here?
Posted By: tmitch Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
Good grab Jeff. Hope it works out, I hesitated when I saw new seller/no feedback.

Was looking at that a lot last night, came to the conclusion that it was a 6 also and so I passed on it. Good deal for somebody for a hunting rifle or even trading fodder, just didn't need it myself.

An unrated seller also didn't help my comfort level.

It's a new year, gotta start out by trusting folks. Besides I have the (savage) wrath of the Savage internet gods standing behind me, and I ain't afraid of implying violence (..so long as nobody gets hurt) laugh . We'll see

I hate it when bubba puts a recoil pad on a 300
Posted By: JeffG Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
I wouldn't have gone for the D&T'd one with the pad. Different gun, different seller.

You should be fine, I've bought from non-rated sellers before. I just make it a point to talk to them on the phone personally, and have an address that matches their name on some internet lookup site. Most scammers aren't going to use gunbroker, which requires a credit card to verify user, and aren't going to scam for just a $300 firearm. grin

Glad somebody here got it.

What ya gunna build Jeff? wink grin
Posted By: mad_dog Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15

I'll let you know MD

Ah, you ought to try to remake Bill Ruger's semi-auto 99. grin
Posted By: 99guy Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
New unrated seller.

Wonder how many times that gun has already been sold? Or how many more times it will be sold?

The guy that sends him $300 has got more balls than I do...

Posted By: mad_dog Re: 300 eg on gb - 01/22/15
Verified member since 2012, just hasn't sold anything.

I can see if he just signed up last week but he's been a GB member since Aug 2012.

Somewhere on here there is a list of the 800k rifles and ranges pretty sure they did not all fall 83xxxx. I think it may have been info brought from the old forum. Sure looks like 88 to me.

I was searching for some old information on case coloring and found a post I printed from the old G&K Forum. It was from Jack. I retyped it verbatim. For those of you not around at the time, Jack is an alias and I won't reveal his true identity.

Mike and anyone interested. Here is a summary of the 800,000 S/N block. It seems apparent that the company set this block aside for some unknown reason as the dates are much earlier than lower serial numbers shipped a couple of years later. Second there are way less than 100K guns in this block. The first posted s/n is 834,000 and is followed by blank records up to 834,777. A blank record is where the numbers are posted and have no entry against them and of course no product either. The first entry is at S/N 834,778 and is dated 11/6/53. The following entries are mixed up to s/n 834899 and are dated 10 & 11 of 1953 with a sprinkle of some 1955 and 56 dates. 834900 to 834909 are blank. 834910 to 834994 have entries dated 10-1953 with some in 1954. 834995 to 835025 are blank. 835026 to 835262 are mixed entries with 10 & 11 1953 dates. 835263 to 835412 are blank. 835413 to 835451 show entries for 8/9/10/11 of 1953. 835452 to 835520 are blank. 835521 to 835539 show entries for 10/1954 and 7/1954. 835540 to 836051 are blank. If I did my subtraction right this makes for 502 Model 99s in this S/N block. The next entry is at 900000, which of course is where the new longer and open receivers to accommodate the .243, .308 and .358 Winchester rounds started. I hope this sheds some light, but not necessarily some answers, on this controversial series of numbers. Jack
