Is it pre-mil? No cracks in tang? No butt pad? Still got the front sight? I do not see you doubling your money on this one at $600. If you like it 4 your self it may be a good deal. If you are investing for monetary gain not so much.

9148 are the first 4 numbers, no front sight.

Has it been recrowned or is the barrel shortened to something less that 22-inches? It was asked if your F still has the front sight. Without knowing that it's kind of like asking how severe was this cut to my thumb. Was it cut to the first or second knuckle or are we just talking about a paper cut.

supercrew said no front sight.

CUT BARREL and No FRONT Sight,, If Condition exists other than that I'd Say No More Than 400 to 450.00 Pending Condition.

What he said, or even less if you can get him to go there. Just a shooter and the cut barrel reduces the gain of the .308 over the .300 Savage.

Thanks for info. Was told barrel was cut by professional and re-crowned. How true I'm not sure cause he told me he wasn't happy when he found out but still bought the gun.said reason he bought cause they no longer make.like stated before ( no front sight).Barrel was cut to 18".

It would make a great hunter. I would offer $450 for it....have a barrel band front sight added and make a pretty neat fast handling carbine. AND.....as light as it would be, put a nice new decelerator recoil pad on it. You get the high quality of the pre mill 99 with modern updates. A 99F Carbine.
What is the correct thread number for the Savage 99 drawbolt? I have read it is 5/16" with 24 tpi, but the bolt I bought at the hardware store doesn't fit either of my 99s. What's the deal?
5/16-22 is the spec. It's a gun screw after all, why use a readily available standard size!?!

someone on here was making them with a hex head but I don't recall who.
