Hi all i have seen a number of 99`s , primarily the E with stocks that are very light or blond in color. i have not seen anything in murrays book or in any other literature that states this blond coloring to be an original finnish. i have been told that this blond wood in fact has been bleached by a previous owner. i would believe that theory but it seems strange that all of the guns that i have seen with this blond wood were the same model. does anyone have any information on this?

Many, if not all, of the E stocks were made of itswood rather than walnut. Itswood is just about anything that's cheaper than walnut. About all you can say about it is that its wood.

The Model 99-E's from 1961-1981 were a walnut finished hardwood, not walnut. When you strip the finish the wood is blond.
