What is the difference between Lyman 1A and 30 1/2 tang sight? Can the both be used on 1899s and 99s? Is one better than the other?
Thanks, Keith
The 30 1/2 (and 29 1/2) has built in windage adjustment.
"Better" is subjective. The capability of windage adjustment is a big advantage if the front sight isn't drift-able for windage correction. Otherwise, not so much.

About 200 dollars.
The 30 1/2 does bring a premium and rightly so. It is a superior sight with the windage adjustment!!
Thanks.
Cool cool factory is higher on the 30 1/2. A little rarer. Hence the higher price. grin GW
I have 30½'s on all of my 1899H's. The least I paid was $150 on eBay last winter. The most was whatever a mint Redfield Olympic rear sight and International front sight was worth that I traded for one 8 years ago- somewhere north of $250. Seems like every time I ran into Ken Bean at a gun show, I was going home with a 30½ in my pocket. Putting those sights on those rifles cost enough that I could buy a darned nice 99.
