Sure would like to find someone willing/able to put together annual Savage calendars. The rifles are out there and lots of potential photos available. Could be several varieties each year. Maybe 1895's, 1899's, 99's and so on. They would make great stocking stuffers as well as educational. Probably attract more collectors though. Tom
Hey Tom how about a swimsuit calender of all the collectors instead? Wouldn't that be sweet?
Roy, I think that may be too much of a detractor. Would be the end of Savages as we know them all over the world. Then again we would not have to worry about copy write infringements. Tom
Has anyone done a Savage calendar? I think it's a fantastic idea.
Nobody's done one, but it is an interesting idea. Awfully close to 2017 to do one now, but it's intriguing...
I've got a LOT of Fest pictures, I could probably throw something together.
Do it! I'll take a couple.
Mike
Sorry guys, my belly won't fit on one page, Joe.
A few years back, there was a fellow that came to the Chrysler's at Carlisle show. He sold T-shirts with his own original art work of A Body Barracuda's. Chrysler showed up with their lawyers and shut down every vendor that wasn't licensed by them. I heard they told him to give over all of his unlicensed inventory or the would put their lawyers on him. He has not been back. Would you need to get the permission from Savage to make them? Joe.
I still have one of his shirts!:)

Not quite so. Paul Hawyer over on Facebook, the Savage 99 Club put together a pretty nice one. All 12 months of 2017. All you have to do is copy the pages and print them out. I believe Paul is a member here as well. Here is January 2017.
And here's another one on one page.
Gary-Grogel Deluxe would be the man to do a calendar, he may already have one done from his book pictures..he hasn't been around lately. anyone heard from him?
Snapfish.com will make them. They have a video narrated by a mumbly mouthed young lady who is hard to understand with my military firearms competition impaired hearing but I think I can do it. Offer me some encouragement! David
David, I think it would be fun to have a Savage calendar.
I'll take two for every year they're printed!
Everyone would have their own idea of what it should be, but I'd love to see a hunter snapping his Savage rifle up with a giant deer, elk, or bear jumping up in the background, like the old Savage ads but an actual photo. Or a guy unwrapping a Savage rifle for Christmas. Or finding one at a gunshow. Leaned against a tree in the woods while a hunter dresses his game. Stuff like that.
Roy has a good idea, unfortunately my game photos are after the poor old critter has bit the dust. I don't think of taking photos before the critter is on the ground.
What I had in mind were pics of guns from my book or other file photos. I'm going to start looking through the book. Using photos I already have would get it done quicker.
How about a 2018 calendar with hunting photos? That way the members could concentrate on having their buddies photograph them shooting at the critters. This would be a great action type calendar.
David
There could be multiple calendars for each year. One could be as Roy mentioned, just old Savage hunting style pictures another could be more model oriented with factual information for that particular model(different model each month etc. One could be engraved rifles or calibers. The choices are almost limitless. I would certainly buy one of each if multiple calendars contained different photos and info. Tom
In looking through my book I could come up with 12 pics in chapters 2 and 3. I think that is too limited. How about 1895 to 1959? These are the favorites for most of us. I want to include John's Lewis machine gun and of course the Montreal Home Guard musket also. David
I came up with 12 months worth of pics by stopping at 1935. I'll list them and you guys tell me what you think.
Jan. Figs 2-2 to 2-6, the five regular production model 1895's plus the 1895 musket.
Feb. Fig. 2-12 1895 Ulrich engraving of a deer chased by a hound.
Mar. Figs. 3-1 and 3-2, the five regular production introductory 1899's plus the 1899 musket
Apr. Fig. 3-22 1899 grade D engraving showing the buffalo
May Figs. 4-11a and 4-12 early takedown closeups
June figs. 4-1 1899H, 4-5 and 4-6 model CD's, 4-17 1899 250-3000 with box.
July figs. 4-19 MHG musket, 4-25 MHG bayonet, 4-29 Lewis machine gun.
Aug. fig. 5-4 the 99E, 99F and 99G
Sep. fig. 5-7 showing my well worn Arctic explorer Donald MacMillan's combination set.
Oct. fig. 5-15, 5-16 and 5-17 showing the 7 variations of the 99H.
Nov. Figs. 5-22 and 5-23 showing 99K engraving.
Dec. Figs. 6-1 99R & RS, 6-6 ucncheckered EG, 6-7 Speigal Special, 6-12 99T.
I could call it "40 Years of Savage 1895, 1899 and 99 Production 1895 to 1935".
What do you guys think?
David
David, anything you can come up with is fine with me. Thanks for offering to take this on. Tom
I think it would be a Great Idea! if the price is Not to high! David that sounds Great!
Not sure about what I'll have to charge yet. Under $20 I hope. Will get on it this evening after I get back from a Christmas party. Non drinking kind of party so I'll be able to function. David
I'm in. Sounds good David!!
Steve
Co-eds. A different one each month, in tiny bikinis, holding Savages from different eras.
I guess I'm the only old fart around here with an active libido anymore!
Got the cover artwork figgered out-
Or we could just do a reprint of last years. I think my wife would vote for this one, but I feel more like the first one.
Had trouble getting the layout I wanted last night. Will try again this morning now that I'm fresh. I'm one of those morning people. David
I've got mine slightly more than half done. Probably have something up and available to look at tonight or tomorrow. Mostly using old ads with some pics of rifles thrown in.
Got the cover artwork figgered out-
I recall a picture posted here of the rear view of a scantly dressed brunette with an EG slung over here shoulder ... now that would make a good cover.
I think I've got it. Not exactly what I wanted but the best I can come up with. Their available layouts don't work with multiple wide skinny pics of rifles on one page. Going to have lunch and review what I've got later. David
another site option is vista print. 11x17 qty of 10 about $75

I ordered 30. They are costing me almost $20 a piece with shipping and tax (why tax I don't know). How about $25 a piece including shipping? They said they'll have them to me by Friday the 30th. Send orders to David Royal, p.o. box 1271, Pinedale, Wy., 82941 David
David, put me down for 2 calendars. What type of payment do you prefer/accept, thanks, Tom
Personal check, money order, bank draft, paypal (say for friends and relatives), Savage 99 trades, etc. David
How about a calendar made from all those old pictures you fella's keep posting? I'm sure there is at least 12 of them kicking around.
Blitz
Personal check, money order, bank draft, paypal (say for friends and relatives), Savage 99 trades, etc. David
David, put two aside for me. Put it on my tab.
Will do, Roy.
Blitz, Gary has a whole suitcase full of those old photos including the ones that appeared in my book. He should be the one to do that calendar or have someone use his pics.
I was wondering if someone should use the 2015 Kill Page Pics to do one also. It would be a lot easier than the one I just did. It was really tough to get multiple photos to look right on one page. The Kill Page calendar would only need one photo per page. David
I pulled the pics I used off Shutterfly, the company that is making the calendar. They are only the pics not the way they appear in the calendar with the captions for each month. I was able to use pics from the book except for the multiple photos of the 1895's so I had to use this one for January.
Here are a few others. The only way I could get John's Lewis machinegun to print was to cut the stock off a little.
The pics of the 99R and 99RS worked well. They are on the same page as the 99EG, 99T and Speigle Special.
The engraving closeups are on a page by themselves and look good. This is the 1895 engraved rifle that I photographed at the Julia auction in March 2013. I think it was from the Wes Adams collection.
David
I'm in for one David.
Payment will go out to ya tomorrow.
dave

Everyone needs one. And then another..., and another...,
got mine today!
thanks David!
dave
There are only two calendars left that are still in the wrapper. Anyone ordering one PM me so I don't oversell them. David
David Did you get my check Steve
Haven't received it yet. When did you send it? All our incoming and outgoing mail go through Salt Lake City which is 250 highway miles SW of here. It's a pretty slow process. Will let you know when I get it. Thanks, David
David Check went out 1/3 or 1/4 thanks steve
Steve, found your envelop and note. I don't show where I deposited the check but I don't have it so must have deposited it. I remember sending out your calendar. Have you received it? We were out of town from the 3rd to the 10th so the calendar would have been shipped after that probably about the 12th due to the lousy weather. It took two weeks for Fireball 2's calendar to reach him in Oregon so it may be a few more days before you receive it. Keep me informed. Thanks, David
David Got the calendar today ! Great item as I thought it would be. Check was deposited on the 17th. Thank you for all the work on it Steve
