Anyone wanting a shooter 99 in 358 might want to do a look for a rebarreled 99C before someone hits the Buy Now. It won't last the day.

At that price I wouldn't feel bad about making one of these out of it.

I am just going to wait until you sell me that stubby 358 you have.

Sometimes it is better to wait.

Jeff, you will be waiting a very long time, with no positive outcome for you! Why not grab that one and shorten it up?

Besides that one a mine's got like a 12" sight radius. grin I've seen pistols with longer barrels.

Roy,

I have two 358s in the barn now. An EG and an F.

I don't think you will sell. I am thinking you will trade. wink

What is the feet per second and bullet weight you get outta 99 in 358? How long does the brass last? What are rather bullet options? Powder options? Thanks. Is there a 35 cal in a 300 savage case made? How would it compare to a 8 mm Mauser?

I don't hotrod my 358 and push a 200 gr hornady at 2400 fps. I have heard TAC powder gives another 300 fps. haven't shot it enough to tell you how long brass lasts. Hotter the loads, lesser the life. Bullet options? Guessing 180-250 grains, not counting pistol bullets. Can you imagine a 110 gr HP out of a 358? BOOM! Dead bunny! grin

I remember chronographing the 358. It shoots to minute of deer for me at 200 or less. Bang flop is what I get with cup and core Remington sale priced 200 gr. I use the flat points in brush and pointed otherwise. I have never even loaded the Hornady 275 gr rns I have. Never needed them. Bet ya' they put the smack down on most everything. The origin of the caliber is the .308 opened up to .358. Nothing less than an amazing increase in power with mild recoil.

Not my experience with the .358, but I've fired worse kickers.
