My mom got me one of these as an early birthday present. I'm getting ready to watch the instructional DVD now that came with it but it doesnt seem like it would be too hard to use. It's heavy, thats for sure. I like the idea of the leverage blade for the brisket and pelvis.

I've never found a need to bust the pelvis, or brisket, in the field. Not saying that I haven't tried/done it, cause I have, I just didn't see a benefit. I'm all ears if you gents find a better way though.

It looks intriguing,it also looks very difficult to sharpen.Let us know how it works.

Still no deer to try it on ah well, I got wed-sun to hunt hard and see if I can get a nice specimen to try it out on.

The knife came with a sharpening "stick"; some abrasive stone, not sure of the grit.

I had better luck using the diamond stone on the pocket sharpener I got from WalMart. The end is the hardest to sharpen with that curved blade section.

Also, what makes it even harder, is the angle of the blade bevel. That curved end has an angle like \/, its very wedge like. If I can't get it to get a sharp edge, I may see about filing/grinding down that wedge into a more enlongated taper; maybe that will help.

I had one given to me. It is sure named correctly. That thing busted into two halves before it even made a dent in my deer's pelvis. After welding it back together my brother sure likes it to cut twine off of bales.

I used mine on one of the deer I killed this year. The edge wasn't that sharp so I put it back up and used one of my other knives I brought with me. The gut hook was razor sharp though and I think it does have potential after it is sharpened correctly.

The video DVD that came with the knife shows the maker doing a good job with it on a large axis deer.

I never had a problem busting the pelvis with a regular knife. Knowing how is the key. miles
