I got a buddy who works as a superintendent for a local golf course and he asked me what pocket knife he should get. Knowing full well how he won't care for it and how it will be used. My immediate thought was a sodbuster. I see there are numerous outfits making that style and wanted to know what you guys would recommend. The Queen with D2 seems like a nice one.

If you like the Sodbuster, you might check out the GEC Farm and Field bullnose, and if you don't mind Orange, you might check out Knives Ship Free... (Hint).

What about a Case Sodbuster in Crome Vanadium or Stainless with your choice of Yellow or Black scales!

The Sod is a tank, a little over 8" open but it fits good in the back pocket.

I carry a Sod Jr. daily in my front pocket.

The Queen is nice but I prefer the blade profile of Case.

Get a hawkbill from China or a used one made in the USA if the guy won't care for the knife. The blade is beefy enough to take anything.

Get the Klein Tool knife.

I have one of these and it is a fantasic little knife. I carry and use mine constantly. It sharpens easily and holds a great edge, I have cleaned everthing from frogs to deer with it.

^^^This^^^.
I bought one of these Kabar Doziers on a whim at Cabela's last year. You just cant beat em for a "cheap" pocket knives! And they are Razor Sharp! Much MUCH better than any of my old Case trappers that i used to carry as an every day knife.
The steel quality & sharpness is about as good as my more expensive BenchMades & Spyderco's, which I prefer for every day carry.

Anyhow, I liked the little Kabar Dozier so much, thatI bought 5 of them for $24 each. One for each hunting pack, and a couple to give my 2 oldest nephews.

If we're still talking about Sod Busters, I like this one.

If you can find one, Buck Creek (Hen&Rooster) makes the exact same knife with really nice stag scales for the same price. They discontinued them and you may still find some on closeout.........

Here is the knife specs/pic. German made/steel. They can still be found...........

I bought one of those from you, Vince. I leave it in on the belt of a pair of wool hunting pants and it is always ready to go.

Great knife for the money.
