I noticed that there is one thread for many knives from a single maker, so I figured I would start mine.

Here are 5 EDC blades that I just finished, that are up for grabs if anyone is interested.

1095 steel differentially heat treated with temp and time, satin finish, 1/8" thick at the ricasso, 2.75" blade, 6.125" overall length, 3 have g10 handles, 2 have black micarta.

Those are some real nice blades. The one with the fat orange liners kicks azz.
So what kind of jacket will they be wearin, leather or kydex?
Posted By: 2muchgun Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 03/22/14
I'm diggin' the one with blue liners.

I think black leather sheaths would be best, but what do I know?
Posted By: TheWeatherman Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 03/22/14
Thanks guys.
The black and orange one is my favorite too.

I don't make kydex sheaths, so if the customer wants a sheath I can make a leather one for them, for an extra charge. But they are up for sale without any "pants". I am trying to keep the price down and see how they sell.
Posted By: DaleAtkerson Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 03/22/14
IMO you will sell better with a sheath at a higher cost. A saddle shop in your area would probably give you a better price than an individual on a one time basis. The consumer world now is all about conveniance. I feel that you will miss sales if they have to go find their own sheath. IME people will pay more for ready now. Larry Parsons is one of the best for leather. Kydex is easy to make your self with minimal investment and there is no wait time.

OOPS missed that you make your own leather
Posted By: TheWeatherman Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 03/22/14
Dale, yeah I make my own leather sheaths.

Here are some other knives that I have made.

A sale fell through, so I still have the black and orange g10 handle and a black canvas micarta handle available.

Here are two knives that are on my bench that need some sheath work after this weekend...

First one is a camp/untility knife. Frame handle (g10), stabilized amboyna burl scales, O-1 blade.

I reduced the price from my frame handle knife with the stabilized amboyna burl to $320 if anyone is interested.

I have to admit that I was hit by the hamon bug right when I started making knives. I tried a lot of different stuff. But after making and trashing a ton of knives and practicing and listening to as much information as I could, here is the result.

Hey Brian, haven't heard from you in a while. Nice, but kinda busy. I would prefer a Hamon to be more flowing as it goes down the blade to the tip.
Posted By: TheWeatherman Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 09/01/14
Hey MissouriEd! I have been busy with my research, this is the first time I have been able to work on knives since June.

I like the cloudiness of this hamon. But you do have a good point. I will have to figure out how to do that with the sharpened clip and still have the clip edge hard.

It was really fun though.
Posted By: MissouriEd Re: B.W. Avila Knives - 09/01/14
I've seen some hamon designs that almost look like flames as they flow down the blade. Those are pretty cool too.

Completed, fighting bowie.

Totally finished...

Using time, temp., geometry, and clay I was able to obtain a nice cloudy/whispy hamon with great activity. Hand polished guard lungs. Hand polished black linen micarta handle. The sheath is fully lined and tooled in the front, influenced by Paul Long, but was all hand stamped and hand stitched by me.

Sharpened clip, ground to zero. Blade geometry is ground thin and then convexed and feathered in.

Steel: W2
Blade Length: 9.5"
Overall Length: ~14.75"
Blade thickness at ricasso: ~1/4"
Blade Width: Just under 2" at the widest
Guard: 416 stainless steel
Pin: 1/16" 416 Stainless Steel
Spacers: Black G10 and Copper
Handle: Black Linen Micarta
Sheath: crafted by me.

Wow. Very impressive and a great job on the sheath to compliment it.

Thanks! I like it a lot.

If anyone is interested I have some EDC knives available:

I decided to take them down to a nice thin sharpened edge instead of the convexed edge that I had previously.

Steel: New Jersey Steel Baron 1095, differentially heat treat with temp and time.
1/8" thick, satin finish
6.125" over all length
2.75" blade length
1/8" 416 stainless pins
Scotchbrite Belt finish, full flat grind with convexed edge.

Sheaths are not included because I don't have any leather on hand at the moment and I don't make kydex.

1) OD green and black G10
2) Black g10 with orange liner
3) Black g10 with toxic green liner
4) Black g10 with orange liner

The pictures are from my phone, sorry...

I am asking $120 shipped in the USA. Paypal only ( I prefer the gift option please ).

I finished two Fighters/Bowies recently

1)
Steel: W2 with hamon
Over all length: 14.75"
Blade Length: ~9.25"
Blade thickness: ~1/4" at the ricasso

Guard: 416 stainless with scalloping
Handle: polished g10,
sharp clip
Sash Carry sheath hand tooled and stitched by me.

This hamon is more traditionally placed, closer to the 1/3:2/3 rule and goes down towards the tip and back up the clip, with a hard clip.

2)
1095 machine satin finish: 13.25" overal Length, 8" blade, ~ 1/4" thick at the ricasso.
Blade is differentially hardened and the hamon can be see in the right light
416 stainless steel guard with scallops
Black polished g10
Hand tooled and stitched sash style carry sheath, made by me
