I had a Benchmade Mini-Ambush knife that was perfect for me. As luck would have it, the locking mechanism broke. I sent it back to Benchmade for repair. Thier reply was that since that knife is no longer in production it cannot be repaired. They offered a Mini-Gripilian as a replacment. My question is can anybody give me a comparision of the Mini Griptilian to the Ambush or any other thoughts on the Gripitilian?

Thanks
I have had a good half dozen Benchmades and they all served well. I am down to four now of which two are Griptillians not the mini. Good strong locking folder that you can open with one hand.
had many b.m.s all 100% great knives. not familar with the ambush but the grip. is a real good knife. cranky72
I am afraid that I have no experience with the Ambush.

However, I have two Griptilians, one of which is a Mini-Griptilian in D2 steel.

I have been very impressed by the Mini-Griptilian -- I think you will be quite happy with one as a replacement!

Thanks for the replies. According to the spec sheet, the gripilian is very similar to the ambush in all dimensions. Plus, its a benchmade. It cannot be all that bad. I think I will accept the Gripilian as a replacement. My other option is a $50 store credit, but than I would be back at square one with the decision of what knife to buy. Haha
im a huge fan of Benchmade's Axis lock....can open and close it one handed, either hand.....ive got a 710....since buying this one from tex n cal a year ago its been my go to EDC pocket knife, lil bigger than needed perhaps but i love the thing

rattler--ditto on the 710s--what is the make on that unusual straight knife? cranky72
Got a Griptillian that I used as an EDC for many years until I started carrying the Kershaw Leek. Nothing wrong with the Benchmade, just ready for a change and the Kershaw is a little slimmer in the pocket. It is a fine knife though, picked mine up for a stupid low price about 10 or 12 years ago at an after Christmas sale at a local sporting goods place. As others have said the axis lock is probably the best locking mechanism ever designed for a folder. Get good with it and you can sling it open and closed one handed, left or right.
I have three of these 330's and they are great for my EDC needs:

its one one of the fire members that was at the Tennessee pig hunt in 2013 made....damascus blade, horn handle....bought it cause i liked the look and the price was right......course after i bought it i realized it absolutely doesnt fit with anything i need a knife for so it sits on a shelf looking pretty laugh
I've got a couple Mini-Grips, one in D-2 and one in 154 CM (likely the one you will receive.
Fine knives.
In my experience with the 154 CM, (3 knives) the factory edge is a bit fragile (weakened steel) but once you get down to good steel, it's a very good steel.
