Wound up ordering the same specs as Mannlicher this time around. Looks just like his.

110 w/nickel steel bolsters, pins, black G-10 grips and a non-serrated S30V blade. Got planty of leather 110 sheaths so went with the nylon thing, which is smaller in profile than the leather.

I'd not bother posting about my knife... but their turnaround time right now is under 2 weeks!! I ordered the knife 13 days ago and it was just dropped off by the big brown van. Only shame is my birthday present got here about a month before my birthday.

Kudos to Buck Knives. Been a good week. Just yesterday I received a 110 Chairman Edition and my first 112 from an Amazon order. Can't get enough Buck classics!

Congrats, solid knife that should be a workhorse for you.

while up in Alabama this past weekend, I showed my custom shop Buck 110 to one of the good old boys from Hayden AL. He said he carried a 110 every day, and had for many years.
He was so impressed, that he asked his son to go ahead and order one just like mine, that it was 'time for an upgrade'.
Sam, That's a neat story. Every time I whip out a 110, someone asks about 'that nice knife.'

I've got 5 model 110s. I have a thing for those nickel-steel bolsters since I don't like that brass ones that tarnish.

The best deal on the nickel-steel 110 (IMO), if you can forgo the S30V steel, is the 110 Chairman edition. Can be had on Amazon for about $65. I have 2.

I've nearly always got one in my pocket. I work at a software company that doesn't fret about employees having knives. My coworkers know who to ask if they need a knife and my answer is always "Don't cut yourself!"

I have two others, older ones, and a nice old Buck 112. Bought that one back in the late seventies.
I have a beautiful old Parker lockback, with nickle bolsters, a couple of Shrade Uncle Henry lockbacks, and a nifty little Buck 501.
One of my favorites is the Case XXchanger. Lockback with 4 other changeable blades.
Lockbacks are great knives.
I agree! Just got my first Buck 112 the other week. Little more practical for EDC. I need to get into some other brands/makers like you have in your collection. I have a few Kershaws and Victorinox athough.

I've got a guy locally that has a 119 and 110, both with elk scales and mirror blades for sale. Old custom jobs in mint condition. I hate the internet! smile

Congrats on the new Bucks. I got my first Buck 110 five years ago for my birthday and wondered why the hell I didn't buy one 30yrs earlier. I then made up for lost time and ordered a bunch of the 50th anniversary editions.

I'm interested in the 112, but the 110 fits my hand so nicely, and the 112 doesn't seem enough smaller to avoid the need for a belt sheath.

I need another knife like a third hole in the head, but I think a little Squire 501 with an S30V blade and walnut scales would be worth considering.

I've NEVER owned a Buck in my life. I've sharpened more than a few for friends and they were all a PIA. I'm sure letting them get to the point that they wouldn't cut butter didn't help.

Might have to breakdown and order one.

I think Buck uses Paul Bos heat treatment. It's better than ok...
Posted By: 222Rem Re: Another Buck Custom 110 - 08/05/15
Yes, the Bos heat treat is the heat.........sorry. grin

Scott,
I had a Buck stockman as a kid, and found it to be a PITA to free-hand sharpen with a wet stone compared to my Case stockman with CV blades. Then 30yrs later I start really using and collecting Bucks and appreciate their steel. I'm not enough of a knife nut to understand what Bos does, but I DO know that the heat treat is at least as important as the alloy used, if not more so. I also now know to keep on top of my edges, and at a minimum I'll touch 'em up with baby crock sticks in the field.

420HC maybe isn't as Uber as some newer stuff, but with the Paul Bos heat treat, I'm not wishing for more. Ironically, that old Buck stockman is the only knife I've ever lost. It's somewhere on my grandparents farm.

In related news, I also have a Buck Vantage Pro with a S30V blade(and Bos HT) and it's a STEAL in today's knife market. It's one of my go-to knives at work, and sees a lot of use.

You can google up images of knives? Congratulations!

That has NOTHING to do with the fellow ordering a custom 110.

You remain: a moron.

New in presentation box 501 100th anniversary knife circa 2002.
Nickel silver with rosewood but I'm not sure about blade steel.
One of our sub contractors gave em away at Christmas that year.

And you're right,,, the 501 is a sweet little knife.
I've been tempted to carry it but 'so far' I've resisted.

Very nice gift! I'd probably leave it in the box too.

I wasn't looking forward to the trip to Silverwood (I don't find amusement parks very amusing), but now that Buck is on the docket, things are looking up. Between a factory tour and the seconds shop, I should have a hoot. smile

Chinese made schit, for a schithead.

Dumbass Don is outdoing himself on dumbphuckitude.

F'kin' hilarious that he claims he wouldn't allow anyone to hunt "his land" (as if anyone would want to) if they showed up in an Asian vehicle, but his idiot ass is pimping Chinese pot metal knives.

That is a darn good knife, probably about as good as you can do for the money.

The "Winchester" not so much. laugh
