You think it will make any of the discontinued Beckers go up in value? I love the bk4 but I hear its history. It's a great large blade for clearing brush and limbs. Turkey and duck season it's in my pack for blind building, hate to see it go. I may buy a back up.
Which ones?
Probably the least popular ones. I know the bk4 and I believe the bk15 also. Maybe a neck knife too. I think most people don't like the way the bk4 looks but it is very versitile and practical and chops like a champ.
Thanks for the heads up Seal Billy. I just ordered a BK4 aka Machax before they're gone. I missed out on the entire BK&T line back when they were built by Camillus. I was glad at the second chance offered by Ka-bar, and have collected every BK model except the Machax...............until a couple minutes ago.

Based on the drop in prices/availability, I've got a hunch the BK5 is being cut also (sorry for the pun).

Checking KnifeCenter, it looks like the BK15 is already gone, and the '4, '5, '10, '22', and '39 are on the chopping block as well.

if they drop them, it's cause they are not selling. The price will rise as Becker Heads swoop in for a deal. This will spiral out of control, until the paying price exceeds that of a good custom knife. Seen this happen a million times. laugh
Yep, that's the cycle.

Given the price increases of the BK2,7,&9, I can see why Ka-Bar is streamlining things.

If you plan on using it you will love it.
Honestly, I probably won't. I've got the Ka-Bar and OKC Kukris which are similar, along with a couple real Kukris and several large choppers and machetes. I might fall in love with the Machax but I can't really justify the purchase other than it'll eat on me if I don't have one after they're gone. blush
I thought about getting a new one and putting it up. But I need the money for more important things honestly.

Mine came today and I must admit it's cooler than I expected. I already knew and understood the shape and handle angle, but it's shorter and lighter than I expected. Most of the weight is up front where it needs to be, and like all full size BK's, it's got a very comfortable handle. This thing just might out chop other blades in it's weight class...........or with less effort. Accurately hitting the sweet spot will take some practice, but right now it appears more efficient than the heavier BK9 with its weight distributed full-length.

While it's one of the most unconventional knives I now own, it might come close to being that perfect do-all large knife to pair up with a small mora or folder.

Thanks for starting this thread.
Your welcome tripletwo. It's a quirky knife that people love or hate. The ones that hate it don't know how to use it. Take care.
Thanks again. And for full disclosure, the Brown Truck just dropped off a BK10, which if I've done my homework, means I've got the whole lineup now. Not sure I like it yet (I prefer the BK7 in that weight/thickness range) but it's being cut too, so what the heck.

I'll have to wait until next week to see if there's anything left within an hour's drive to chop with the BK4. Fires everywhere right now, and close enough for large ash/cinder to land my postage stamp size slice of America.
