Saw the one posted a few weeks ago right as my name was coming up, so I told Gene that's what I wanted. Told him to surprise me on scales

Holy moly. That is sweet !

Sure is. We were talking about that pattern at lunch today. Might need to get back on his list. Nice knife.

WOW!!!
Posted By: MOGC Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 11/22/15
You can do a lot of work with that knife... and in style!
Posted By: INTHEMTNS Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 11/22/15
Thats a beauty.

Good looking knife.

Great looking Ingram.

I really like the scales he chose too.

Thanks

Thats a beauty for sure.
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 11/25/15
That would be a great boning knife. Very nice to butcher a deer for the freezer. My name is coming up in the near future. Thinking Westinghouse with red liners and a tapered tang......
Posted By: ATROX Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 11/27/15
Love the wood on that one!
Posted By: TNrifleman Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 11/27/15
Beautiful working knife, sir.
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/08/15
Have you had a chance to use the knife yet? Do you have any pictures holding the knife?
Posted By: BrandonGleason Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/19/15
Loving the new pattern. I'm on the list for next late summer/fall for my second from Gene and probably leaning this way.
Posted By: wilbilly Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/19/15
I really like that pattern a lot also. I just sent Mr. Ingram an email a couple a days ago haven't heard back from him yet. How long is the typical wait for one of his knives? Not that it really matters, I want one however long it takes, I was just curious.

Wow. Deja vue. I picked this up in 2010. Gene labeled it as Custom back then. Almost the same dimensions as yours. S30 and ironwood. If I was forced to only keep one knife, this would be the one. It is great for deboning, cutting out silvering and anything else I need to do.

I really like it, for me I'd like just a little bit of flex in the blade.

Interesting you mention flex. I asked gene how thin he would grind one and his reply was .100". He said there would be some flex but not much.

I have a Case folding fillet knife that is .060 at the thickest part and goes to .020 at the point and it is very flexible. I love using it for boning but the steel is soft and will not keep an edge.

When I got on the list for my next one, I asked if he ever made the kingfisher with 3/32 thick blades. He replied that he has has. I think it will be my next one.
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 01/05/16
I spoke to Gene via email and I am getting close to ordering a kingfisher. That knife reminds me of a #4 B&T but bigger. Yes, 3/32" steel. I am going to get red liners and Westinghouse, so the liners will probably have to be thick, especially at the butt if it's tapered. The kingfisher is on his web page and he lists the blade length as 4-5", your choice.
Posted By: Kaleb Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 01/05/16
That's exactly what I want too.
Posted By: frogman43 Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 01/16/16
Reminds me of the only Ingram knife I own....I had Gene make me a custom that is about the same dimensions and has just a slightly more upswept blade.

Been a very useful all around knife....
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 02/24/16
Ordered my Kingfisher today with a 4 1/2" blade. A supersized B&T...

It's one of the sweetest knives he makes. That longer blade will make it even a little more sweeter.
Posted By: Sakoluvr Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 02/25/16
Very nice! Those black liners make the scales pop.
Posted By: MOGC Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 02/25/16
I just emailed Gene... I have to have a Kingfisher! smile
Posted By: ballyhoo Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/08/16
Mine is on the way. About 5 inches of S30V a little thinner than 3/32. Tasmanian blackwood scales. I think this will get a lot of use while butchering.

I really like the looks of that Tasmanian Blackwood. The striped contrasting figure is very attractive.
Posted By: War_Eagle Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/12/16
Ugh...killing me.

On the list. My turn should come up about March. Getting anxious now.
Posted By: Cheesy Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/12/16
I just noticed this thread I started had bounced to the top. Several good examples above.

Now I am reminded I didn't re-up my name on Gene's list like I usually do upon receipt. Wife isn't going to be amused. Whats his lead time now?
Posted By: ballyhoo Re: Ingram Kingfisher - 12/13/16
I received the knife pictured above and there is no way pictures could ever do that blackwood justice. It has a opalescent quality that changes highlights in the wood depending on the light angle. Beautiful stuff.

Cheesy, I re-upped when I confirmed receipt of this knife but haven't heard back yet. This one was about 12 month wait.

UGH!!! You're killing me. My name should be up in March and I am really starting to turn the gears on how I plan to handle my Kingfisher.

What is that specifically? Camel bone?

Been working on the details with Gene for my Kingfisher, he said he is done, I've sent my payment, should ship today or tomorrow. Can't wait. Hoping to get a picture from him before it ships.

Went 5", had him stretch the handle a bit for my big mitts and went extra wide on the scales. S30V, Westinghouse scales with black liners and fisheye mosaics. She will see a LOT of use on the boat this summer.

Waited just over a year for this and I have not been more anxious than I am right now. laugh

Sounds awesome and I'm sure it will be in actual use! Get us a picture when you can

Got a pic and tracking number from Gene. grin
