I just acquired a couple new to me big Montana cutters. I own several Ruana's, and this is my third bowie. A Rudy "Sam Houston" Bowie made in 1970. The second is an Ed Caffrey chopper. I talked to him about this one and he said that he had originally got that design from a group of Army Rangers that commissioned 12 of those knives. They wanted them "sterilized" with no visible markings. Ed stated he built 13 at that time and kept one for himself. He says he packed it all over the world. This knife was the 14th that he built for a person that saw his and wanted one. It too was originally "sterilized", however the owner decided later he wanted the skull engraved on the right side and Ed's logo on the left.

Glad you were able to score the bowie.

Good stuff.

Thanks GW, I'm glad I was lucky enough to be able to give it a home.

I fell in love with that one as soon as I laid eyes on it. Took me a bit over a year to get the guy to let go of it.
