Got this pic from Gene today, I should have this beauty soon. It's a Lite Hunter with an added 1/4" of blade length.
Wow. Hard to beat that. Steel?
D2. I've had good luck with this steel
Good choice.
" 'Luck' is the residue of design. "
I've bought 32 of Gene's knives for myself and as gifts. Of them all, mine (vs the gifts) have been used by far the most (though my kid with his original matched pair (In D2), before "whammer sets" existed, is catching up.)
I have over 70 big game critters worked up with Gene's wares. The top 5 blades that I most admire are: 2 D2, 2 S30V and 1 S35VN.
As always, pattern, grind and cook rule.
Simply aint no way that knife won't ROCK!!!
Great knife, good choice!
I don't generally care for composite scales but I'd make an exception in this case...that jigging is perfection +.
And in my favorite steel too....that's a keeper for sure.
You have good taste in knives...because of your posts of a certain Mike Miller Stag B&T knife I now own it's twin...hope this caper doesn't turn out the same way...I'm not sure my fun money funds can take that kind of hit right now....
Be sure and post a few more pix when it arrives...I'm sure there's a nice tapered tang and and some beautiful liners hiding in that pic....
Out of curiousity, what is current lead time?
I would ask Gene that, I don't know what it would be now.
It has thin orange liners and a tapered tang.
I like that blade profile!
Yep, good looking blade for sure.
Beautiful knife. Where are you in upstate?
I used a standard Lite Hunter on my antelope buck this year and liked it very much. Great blade and handle profile. Enjoy your knife.
My name is coming up on Gene's list around the end of November, this is the pattern I think im going with as well. Let us know how you like it when you get it bloody.
That's a good lookin' cutter. I really like that jiggin' style on those scales.
Great knife. Love the scales and the pins!
Looks better bloodied up...
Congrats! I bloodied an Ingram yesterday but didn't take time to take pictures.
I've field dressed 4 deer with it the last two weeks. Really enjoying this blade.
It's pretty enjoyable to pull a nice custom out of your pack and use it on an animal that you've just killed. Kind of analagous to sippin' on a nice bourbon in pleasant surroundings.
