Just watched the new Hunting Public video, featuring Iowa deer driving. Lots of action, some nice bucks, but what got my attention was a couple of fails, one a RAR jam, the other a .350 Legend FTF. Hard to tell the cause of the jam, but the FTF woulda pissed me off no end.

The Ruger looked like failure to extract and failure to feed all at once; a total [bleep] show! The lucky fellow who took all the deer was using a single shot I believe.

Yeah they are the real deal and have quite the social media following. Neither Ruger or Federal can be real happy with that episode. They made sure everyone knew who made that round that FTF too.
Of course IMO the reason they have such a huge following is specifically because they don't hunt big private high fence ranches and they don't have a bunch of industry sponsors. The only one that I think does sponsor them is Bear Bows.
That's about the only hunting show I watch. Those guys appear to be the real deal. Young go get'em types who see opportunities instead of obstacles.

Another group I like pretty well is The Untamed, though their hillbilly style can be a bit much sometimes for this transplant to WV. Soon to be a 33-year resident, but never a native I guess.
I’m thinking the guy using the MSR, presumably a .450, has the right gun for those drives.

I’m no expert, but I’m thinking an Ithaca M37 open sight shotgun might do the trick on some of those drives. Worked quite perfectly for many in the old days. I do love their hunting vids
IME, a low-power scope or red dot is faster, and for me definitely more accurate than an open sight. I’ve hunted using a shotgun with slugs with only a bead, open sights, receiver sights and scopes, and played a good bit with slugs on the range. If I ever hunt with slugs again, I’ll use an optic, probably a 1-whatever LPVO. Good ones on 1x are like aiming through a window, and adding a proper illuminated reticle provides the best of both scopes and red dots.
They do add weight and bulk, no doubt about it, and stock fit matters as well.
