I have 7 points for deer in Wyoming and was thinking about putting in this year. Area G looks like it takes 8 or more points but I figured I'd take a shot. Anyone else putting in? Anyone have much experience with this area? any words of advice other than the customary GFY from the locals that haunt this forum?

It’s beautiful country. And has always produced big bucks. But it’s not really great at this time. Winter of 22-23 crushed those deer.

I hunt around the same area for elk generally and see some amazing bucks.

Winter of 22-23 winter-killed a LOT of big game across the northern band of the Western US. If there are some mild/easy winters, it's going to be a decade before herds are re-built and tag numbers return to previous levels. WY took the most drastic steps in cutting tag numbers which will have folks looking for alternates all across the West. We'll probably have to get through the 2025 draws across the West to really see where/how hunters have migrated to and what that does for "point-creep" everywhere.

I'm kind of on the fence on if I will go this year for deer - I currently have 14 points and will likely wait until April or May before I decide. So far the winter has been pretty mild which is good but like mentioned last winter sure hammered the critters in many areas.

Deer hunting in Wyoming is going to be horrible.

I'm sitting on 9-10 deer points and am passing for another year or 2.

Not sure how many points I have for down in Wyoming but Bo matter, after last winter I’m going to give it a few more years.

I'm headed up there. Said screw it and I'm gonna burn the points. I bet I seen 1000 deer while I was up there antelope hunting. Never seen a buck I would have shot, but there were plenty of deer. It ain't easy, but there are still some bucks up there!

Sitting on 14 points and not sure Im going this year. Worst part is my buddy is 75 this year and he is ready to go. Was planning on going but Im scheduled for a knee replacement in March and another about 3 months after. I was ready to burn my points regardless of deer numbers. I had to get a refund for medical reasons for my last years elk hunt.

I am sitting on 8.. By the time I have enough for the zone I wanna hunt, I hope it's good. Funny note, its the same area I elk hunt and I saw more deer there this year than I have seen in the past 7 years.. Thought that was kinda odd.

Not all areas got hammered last winter.
G will take more PPs this year I bet and numbers are way down.
NE also has EHD issues.

Better wait to decide after the quotas come out.

Im 55 and in pretty good health for a flat lander, Ive just witnessed too many older buddies wait to long and their health go to pot before they made the trip. I want to try and get these hunts in before its too late. Things on the list like another antelope are things I can hunt from a wheelchair lol. Elk are still doable today but in 10 years maybe not. What are some other options on a mule deer hunt that is doable with a bow, economically feasible and available without one in a million draw odds? Thanks for all responses

348 Wyoming has some deer general tags that can be drawn with 0-1 PPs. You have all of Sept for archery then back in Oct with a rifle if needed.
Archery pressure is generally lower than rifle season, and bucks may be hanging out together until velvet comes off.
Hunting edges near feeding areas works well early Sept.
