R700, .270win
LSS stock
Cerakote by CAS
Still deciding if I should top it with a VX-3 4-14 LR model, or if that 30mm tube will look too big on the Mountain rifle.

What about the rest of you fellas? Looking forward to seeing your go-to guns...

This one would get the nod if season opened today as its the only rifle I have zeroed and ready. The others are in various stages of scope swaps or other work. 700ADL, painted factory synthetic stock, 6x36 Leupy.

This is gonna be nice.
This basic rifle goes everywhere with me. Any other I'd have to check zero etc..... Nephew used it on javelina in this pic...

MY best 2 groups, and it has shot under an inch every time with the load listed below

Ranger Arms 25-06 circa 1968 or so (yes it was built with that thumbhole stock)
Off the bench, elbows not a rest or bags at 100 yards, a dime covers the group.

One of these three. 25-06 AI w/Leupy 6x, .308 Win with 4.5-14LR or 94 30-30. (I like deer hunting.)

I'd be walking out the door with my .223rem, only because my "go-to" rifle is still with the smith making it even more a "go to" rifle ...

it's my 7mm-08, that's being re-chambered to 7mm-08AI ... but she'll still look just like this when done, at least on the outside ... (grin)

I might well grab this one

[Linked Image]

ULA in .257 Roy. I bought the gun from Dave Petzal, and it had a shot out 7mm WBY barrel. So I sent it back to Melvin to be rebarreled.
I hope you got a good deal. It opens up on the wrong side. smile
Planning on taking the hawkeye 223 this season, but I still gotta work up a load.

So if the season opened today, it would be the same gun as last year. Just a 721 30-06 with a B&C stock an 3-9x40 VX-II

Only pic I have of it

Deer hunting? This one for 90% of my blacktail hunting:

[Linked Image]

Model 7 LSS
Pac-Nor .358 Win
2.5x8 Leupold with B&C reticle (yes, with a .358!)
Alumina covers
200-gn Hornady at 2625 fps... or 225 Sierra at 2475 fps.
Trigger set to 3 lbs, my heaviest trigger but I kill them up close and it gets pretty steamy...

Elk, bear, mule deer, or some blacktail spots:

Kimber montana .325 WSM
2.5x8 Loopy with B&C reticle
200-gn Accubond at 2925 fps.

Got no picture worth posting, but you've seen 'em <g>.
Good looking "GO TO" guns here fellas. Keep em coming! Its threads like this that help me survive until opening day...

Remington 700 LVSF .243 Win
McMillan Classic GAP Camo
Williams SS BDL trigger guard assembly
Callahan firing pin assembly
Talley 30mm LW rings
Kahles Helia CBX 2.5-10x50mm Matte Illuminated 4NK reticle
Glass & pillar bedded and Accurized by HCR
8 lbs 5.8oz as she sits

Kids mainly use this to hunt feral hogs at night (reason for the illuminated "Hubble" scope) but more than likely one of my boys or nephews will use it this season to take their WT.
No pictures sorry but my "Rifle" would be my Mossberg 500 with Slug choke and Red dot cause water holes are where the deer are.or my Ruger 77 .260 maybe my marlin .30/30 open sights not fancy or pretty but ugly is as ugly does.

99F .308
Its 98 degrees out with a heat index of 106. If deer season opened today, I'd be carrying iced tea or a cold beer inside my house!
My tricked out LVSF in 7-08 is going to get the nod this year. Never shot a deer with a 7mm anything so it going to be hard to pass scrubs........
What a nice thread you started!

I have that very gun I bought 10-15 years ago and have yet to scope it and fire a shot. How well does that one perform? I may just have to get it shooting this year.

My go to right now
Ruger SRH, RH or TC 16" 45-70
1886 Winchester (made in 92) in 45-70
or my Searschester in 30-06 with (finally) Winchester bottom metal, Winchester Model 70 "plastic" stock, and 165 BTs with some 4350 behind them.
One of these two...

Remington 700 SA

Leupold 3.5-10x40 VXIII in Talley LWs

As of this second:

Mauser 98 270 WSM, Built by Bettin Custom Guns
Richards Microfit stock, finished by yours truely
Zeiss 4.5-14x50 W/ Turrets (Thanks Trey) with data out to 700
Bold trigger, 2 lbs.

If only she shot better then .138!
If rifle season opened today I would have to bring 2 rifles. If the weather is dry the top rifle goes in the field. If it's raining, the bottom rifle get's the nod. Both are Winchester Model 70's chambered in 300 WSM and both will be shooting the 130 grain TTSX. Both rifles are topped off with Talley Lightweight mounts and Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 scopes with the Z-plex reticle. Top rifle is a Custom rifle done by Mike Burnett with the Featherweight checker pattern at 24 LPI. The bottom rifle I bought from Huntr off of this website has a McSwirly stock. It will see a lot of action on days I can't hunt with the wood stock due to the rain or rough terrain.

LouisB,
I have other hunting rifles, but I can't seem to pick up anything else when it comes time to head out to the field. The rifle balances and shoots like a dream. It's obviously nice and light, so is a joy to carry, and it puts any load into 1.5", most into 1", a few loads into 0.5" and one load into 0.3" quite consistently. The rifle is balanced so well that it just seems to float up to my face for a good cheek weld and back into my shoulder. It then proceeds to point itself at the target with very natural fluidity. smile The action is slick as sh**, feeds extremely reliably, and is very strong.

In case you can't tell, I'm extremely pleased with the gun, and if you are interested, I'd love to take yours off your hands...
Three or four are ready to go,but I'd likely grab a pre 64 M70 FW 270 with Brown Precision kevlar stock,Kreiger #1 barrel and 4X Leupold.Alternate would be another pre 64 FW, 270,all original except for the trigger job.Scope is also a 4X Leup.Loads would be 130 Nosler Partition at about 3100 in each.
Great thread , lot's a nice rifles here.

For me , it would be a Marlin . Whichever one called the
loudest that morning.

hehe, nope grin Wish I had the DPMS though...

Guess if I had to pick from the 2 carbines we got here, I'd probably go with the Ruger 44 Carbine

DH's go to gun is the other carbine, an inherited Rem 742
