Just read about them, have a 6mm I Built on a Rem.700 long Action, long throated for max case use. Thought this bullet would do nice on deer. Anyone got load's for the 115 Berger Hunting Bullet? Have you shot deer with it, and at what range? Yes if shot deer with this 243. Cal. bullet in some other case I would like to hear about it also. Just take a few min. work to make it 6mm-06 or 240 Roy. Thanks for your help!
Berger recommends a 7" twist for the 6/115 VLD, you got that covered?

Jim No I don't have a 7" twist. I would get one if I could get some good feed back on performace. I have some guns set up to shoot just one bullet, So to make another rifle is no problem. My 338 Edge is set up for 300 SMK. So thanks for the heads up on the 7" twist might even go to a 6"twist. I called Berger before I responded.
I'm sorry I can't help you with the 115's....but Berger says even the 105VLD needs an 1-8"twist, but my 1-9"twist 243AI will run them all the way to 1000yds at only 3050fps even with temps down in the teens. So I'd say you have a little room to fudge on the twist rates....at least in my personal experience with the 105VLD.

I have shot one whitetail with the 105VLD and it worked.

I can also say for certain that a 1-9" 243AI WILL NOT stablize a 115gr DTAC either.
Brad, thank you for the post. I have shot deer from my 6mm Rem. From 55 BT - 105. Just the BC on the 115 Berger caught my eye. It is all about the quest for me, I have started to build rifles to shoot one bullit for long range shootin. I just love the thrill of the hunt while on a quest for something different.
I have some 6mm 95 gr VLD bullets, and the data in the box says 9" twist or quicker. I have not shot them yet in my Ruger No. 1B 6mm Rem, so no data yet.

I haven't put one thru a deer...

I have a 6mm Rem, on a ADL long action ( 1979 vintage), with a 24 inch Pac Nor barrel with a one in 7 twist..in a Heavy magnum contour mounted on a Boyd's JRS stock...

This thing is a tack driver...

Playing with loads in this, and the 115 Berger seated out to magazine length, I load this rifle with 46 grains of RL 19 and a large rifle primer...

MV is 3250 fps with this load, in the long action... saw no need to make it into a 6mm/06....

work up if you try this load...
the brass in Win, and it doesn't appear to be a hot load, as the primer pockets are nice and tight after 8 reloads on one batch of brass....

hope that helps ya out some..
