Anyone have any advice? I am looking at one and they seem like a great fit, but just wondering as my time is going to be spent commuting when I can from NH. Pending some unfinished business here that has already squashed the chance of a life time I want to make sure I do the leg work and pick a winner if available! That said, I am looking for advice! Thanks, John

I have belonged to several clubs in Halifax Co., NC. There are lots of deer, a long season & decent trophy quality. I also hunted with some very nice sportsmen. Certainly not the place for consistent large trophy deer. One club I really liked was taken over by an attorney/timber manager & has increased dues to about $2,500/yr. I was willing to pay $1,250/yr. for a lodge, 2500 acres to hunt, ATV storage, & great fellowship, but charging higher for coastal NC was ridiculous. I have several friends that still hunt there. Most clubs in the area are $750-1000/yr. Good hunting.
Thanks Tbear!

I hunted for several years as the guest of a hunting pardner at the White Oak Gun Club near Tillery in Halifax County while I was on the waiting list for membership. They had nearly 5000 acres at the time. I joined a club in Edgecombe County prior to having my name come up at White Oak, so I took my name off the list. I understand that about half of White Oak's land ended up in a new state game land a few years back and they lost a number of members. If they have opening's you might investigate and see if the price is right; you could hunt on both parcels (private and public).
Thanks Odessa!
There are tons of Hunting Clubs here.

Best way to find a place is the News & Observer,Carolina Bargain Trader and Craigslist. Anywhere from $500-$1500 just depends on where it is and how much land.
Just because it's Halifax Co doesn't mean there are alot of deer there. Try to stay close to the river or East of 95 if numbers are what your looking for. Northampton,Edgecombe, and Bertie have alot of good hunting too.

Odessa is correct about the Gamelands, there are alot of deer on it but just as many hunters now...lol

FatJack - Remington is giving you some good advice - the entire general area is good. I hunt in a vertical line and have seen nice deer in all of the counties (Northampton, Halifax, Edgecombe, Wilson, Wayne & Duplin). Wilson County has the lower number, but still produces some nice deer. Any county on the VA line, running the entire border except for the eastern most and western most counties produce the most/biggest deer along with a couple near the SC line. For lots of deer just get east of I-95 and you should see a deer each time you hunt; more deer than people east of I-95 in NC.
