Put down 7 does this weekend. MAde 100 pounds of sausage and filled a couple of freezers...

Figured some folks would be interested in some TTSX performance. This is my second season to run Barnes bullets and must say that I drank the kool-aid and then some.

One deer was shot using a 7-08 and 139 IL's at 2750 or so.
Three deer took a a 6mm 80 grain TTSX at 3,150 or so.
Three took a 6.5mm 100 TTSX from my .260 at 3,080 MV or so.

Barnes just may have the perfect do all bullet for everyone with the TTSX. All bullets exited on quartering to, from and broadside shots. Lots of internal damage. The folks who read Field and Stream and say the bullet exits and doesn't do much damage should try to TTSX. Better BC than the TSX.

What's not to like?

Furthest deer went 20 yards and I'm not sure how.

I shot 2 80lb pigs last night with the 130 ttsx out of a 300 saum. Head shots. Let's just say the pigs aren't eating any corn this morning...

I'm thinking 80 TTSX's are going to kill a slew of critters in my future.

You said it well - they do it all. I'm thinking the BC may be better on them than Barnes is advertising (imagine that...grin). The little bit of long range work I've done with them has them flatter than the ballistic tables say they should be.

Need to force myself to do more, but it pains me to launch them at anything but a critter...grin!

Running the 100 TTSX 6.5mm at 400 yards last weekend had me thinking the advertised BC of this bullet at 0.360 is optimistic.

Haven't stretched out the 80 yet but will soon...

Wow those deer are tiny ! What does an average size doe weigh down there ? How about bucks ?

The first two does shown are average to just above average. Maybe 90 pounds?

The yearling on the left in the last picture was probably about 50 pounds.

Just guessing...

Low latitude + high deer density = low body weight.

A mature buck might reach 150-180 pounds here but that is very large.

The problem I have with the TSX/TTSX is that they always (in my experience) exit. Hell, I'd like to find one once in a while.


Just kidding. Well sort of, I would like to find one eventually.

Ive killed a few with the TTSX... 10 animals in Africa (buddy killed 5 as well), and one coues deer. Recovered 3 of them.

I may just have a fast barrel on the A7, although it ain't barrel length that's doing it...grin.

Haven't chrono'd or stretched it out in anything else yet.

Need to stretch it out enough to know, then clone ballistics in a cheap bullet for practice. Thinking a 75 VMax might do that OK for play.

I live in MN and we can have some really big deer. It looks like you were getting some normal good eaters to freezer. Nice job. You know we are all a little nuts about big deer and big horns.
