had really heavy crops this year of apples, pears, mulberries, have not yet looked at any persimmons to see how they have fared.

pecans looks good, and the few oaks i've seen look to have a fairly good load of small acorns. still got the hot part of the year to contend with of course, so hoping this summer wont be quite as bad as last and toast them.

central Oklahoma here...how are things looking in your areas?

Last season, there were little or no mast crop in my area of Ct.
The mild, almost non existent Winter had deer feeding in fields of green grass in December. Messed up hunting, at least for me.
This year, I'm seeing a lot of fingernail sized acorns already.

Has been dry here until the last week so, but doubt it will have much effect on mast production.

It's a rare year when we're not up to our eye balls in acorns.

Mast and wild apples are present in scattered areas throughout my county in southwest Wisconsin. Warm weather early jump started the growing season, then we had hard frosts that killed blossoms.

Scouting for the mast and apple sources will be very important this year.
In upstate NY 2011 was a record year for apples and 2012 they are non-existent. Early warm weather followed by frost got most of them. Even the farmers lost 50-90% of the fruit crop.

Southwest Va. and Eastern Ky. looks pretty good right now for mast,no late frost to speak of last spring, we've also had an extremely wet July with over 8 inches of rain, the fruit crops (wild cherry, apples and grapes) should be excellent............If anything we need some dry weather for a while. All the rain should make for some nice color this Fall though.............Hb
