Only a couple of FIB's from our group are going up this year, me being one of them. We are hunting Marinette County. I hear about 5" of snow on the ground now with a warm up coming. Buck only statewide (non farmland) is interesting. Not that many spikes or baskets make it normally, but this just seals it.

I am looking forward to hunting up there again, been a few years. Lots of great memories.

Good luck and have a safe hunt. We welcome all FIB money to the economy. grin

The forcast for Phillips tonight is -20 F. Winter is forcast down to -18F. If this was the opener tommorrow I think you would have all of Price co to yourself. It is going to warm up to 40F Saturday with rain. I think the deer will move real hard. If you have an established bait pile ( I don't bait) you should see deer. Next bet is find someone elses bait pile and hunker down up wind from it 200 yds.

Have fun hunting and stay safe. And drive safely as well. Looks like Saturday the weather should be real good maybe a bit windy.

Swag, Make sure you stop at Lambeau and pick up some real Jersey's so you will be the envy of all your friends!

The bait pile I hunt over is 60 acres of picked corn. The rut has been very strange this year and even though we had been watching a number of good bucks early it seems many have disappeared or gone dark. The smaller bucks are still running the scrape lines but even the medium bucks seem more focused on feeding than casing. Must be the cold weather has them worried??

According the the guys I know that are contracted by the state to pick up road kill the rut is long since passed. Like 2+ weeks ago the activity slowed down.

My trail cam pics in the last week have been from 3-4 different bucks to none. Rut is most likely all but gone. That is why I think we should make the gun season a week or two earlier.

A 99 with a K4. Man, that's some classic deer medicine. I'll be hunting Pennsylvania in a week. My son and I will both be carrying 99's with K-4's.

I'd be willing to bet I've shot no less than 20 Ashland Co. deer that way in the Chequamegon.

14 deer so far no mature bucks as of yet. Still in stand. Going dark to dark today

Our "hit list" was rather limited this year but we managed to find one of them this morning in the fog.

Whelen Nut - the guide, is in the background.

Nice buck - coming back from the UP I see a lot of Wisco guys in the woods along 41. Hope those guys have some luck like you did!

Haha, I'm tellin ya it's getting close to that point!

Wow, that was some crazy weather up there! Fog, Rain, Freezing Rain, Snow, Crazy Winds. I saw one doe opening morning that the neighbor kicked up. The next time I saw a deer was Wednesday! All day sits too. Wednesday I saw 11 doe, and didn't see one buck in 5 days. We are thinking of going back again tonight for the last weekend. My buddy shot a nice 8 opening morning that ran on to the neighbors property and died...of course they claimed it.

Congrats to your Dad SKane, that is a beaut!
