Nice spread! Been a long time since I hunted around cactus.....
Solid buck there, congrats!
how about the rest of the story??
Congrats, nice buck. Tell us about your shooting iron.
I passed 2 better bucks waiting for the big one! You never know.
The rifle is an older Remington MR with a earlier B&C MR stock with pillars not bedding block, essentually a TI. 25-06 AI Lilja. 100 Grain Swift Sciroccos at a shade over 3500.
Well done, passing on those decent bucks paid off bigtime....
Actually I passed 2 bucks better than this guy hoping to see a really big buck but never did. ( Damit )
I really wanted a Texas buck so took this guy the last opportunity I was going to have.
Sounds like a heckuva rifle you shoot! Cool scenery.
Where were yall hunting Wasp? powdr
Very nice! Congrats. Is this hunt a surrogate for your normal Coues trip?
Thanks pointer.
No, we did the coues trip also. A friend has the pictures of that hunt but is in New Zealand for another week.
I got to spend a lot of time with my 84 year old dad on that trip and didn't hunt much, so I did not take a coues deer this year. But had a great time with family and friends!
Good deal! Hunting with Dad, as well as friends and family, is always a good excuse to spend time/money to travel to hunt. I lost mine 6yrs ago and would give anything for one more day in the field with him.
UBER Wasp!
Nice work.
Travis
Well done Mike!
Nice field picture too...
WOW! 3500 fps I think the 25 06 is a good un. well done!
Thanks Travis and Russell.
That little PHD ( Push here dummy ) camera surprises me every once in a while. I did everything but kick the guy taking the picture asking him to back up or move so his shadow wasn't in the picture but couldn't make him understand.
Angus the 25-06 AI is a deer killing gun for me. This whitetail was the 5th deer of 2014. None of them took a step after being hit.
I'm sure there is no magic in the cartridge but the gun sure fits me.
Good job Mike !
I love a 25-06 too , had mine since I was 19 years old.
Nice buck! What part of Texas?
